The Optimus G hasn’t been a mystery for quite some time now, with Qualcomm basically confirming rumors of the handheld’s coming last week. We knew G’s spec sheet, we had a good idea of how the super-phone will look, so it was about time LG made it official.

Confirmed: LG to out new quad-core S4 Pro-powered beast in September

There you have it, folks, the second ever confirmed phone powered by a quad-core Snapdragon S4 proc, after Xiaomi’s Mi2 “beast”. This unnamed LG device has also been confirmed as using the APQ8064 platform alongside an MDM9x15 LTE baseband and an Adreno 320 GPU, a combination that is expected to blow our minds and break benchmark records.

Quad-core S4 LG Eclipse coming to AT&T and Sprint, may hit stores on October 31

The Samsung Galaxy S3 hysteria is reaching a fever pitch right now, but give it a couple of months and phone geeks will be itching for next big thing to get their paws on. We’ve covered why LG Eclipse is the perfect candidate for that, as it definitely has the specs it needs to stand up against the big boys in the smartphone market. Now, there’s another good reason to start saving your money.

UnwiredView has spotted a filling on Bluetooth SIG, which indicates that both the AT&T (LG E970) and Sprint (LG LS970) versions of the LG Eclipse have been approved for sale. The more interesting part, however, is the phone’s expected arrival in the US.

I know that most of you can’t even conceive seeing an Android smartphone better equipped and better looking than HTC’s One X and Samsung’s Galaxy S3 anytime soon, but the fact of the matter is that LG is planning to make a strong push towards the high-end market niche and their future flagship looks breathtaking in theory.

We’ve told you all about the LS970, codenamed “Eclipse”, and about its 2 GB of RAM and removable battery, but it seems that LG won’t only release its flagship on Sprint, but also on AT&T. We’re still out of breath from marveling at the awesomeness that is LG LS970 — aka the Eclipse — and its mind-blowing specs. It looks like the excitement won’t end there. Brief Mobile has received yet more details of the phone that’s enough to seal its place in our heart as “the next phone to be fawned over for the next couple of months” – now that both Samsung and HTC have released their flagship offerings.

Quad-core Krait, 2GB of RAM! LG LS970 (Eclipse) leaked

The Samsung Galaxy S3 and the HTC One X are the indisputable stars of the Android smartphone market these days. Neither one has enjoyed a proper US release, but pretty much everyone agrees that the two are the best Android has to offer right now.

However, things change so rapidly in today’s technology world that nobody would be surprised if someone came out with a better  Android smartphone by the end of the year. Well, that possibility is now a probability: a so-called LG LS970 Eclipse has just been leaked with some out of this world specs.

The device, while far from being official, is said to be powered by a quad-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor [...]
