by: AlexanderJanuary 10, 2012

That’s right Transformer Prime owners, download your taste of Ice Cream Sandwich now. This was announced last night during NVIDIA’s press conference at CES, but it was not a full roll out yet. As of now it is fully rolling out to everyone.

As if I need to tell you, but I will anyways, head over to the software update menu on your Transformer Prime and start that ICS download. Instead of waiting two more days for the announced release date of ICS, ASUS decided to do it a bit earlier, anyone upset with that? I didn’t think so. After yesterday’s news of a newer better spec-ed Transformer Prime at CES, a lot of Prime owners were a little upset with [...]

by: Darcy LaCouveeJanuary 9, 2012

We’re reporting live here from Las Vegas, at CES 2012! Lots of exciting things are coming up, and here’s our take on Lenovo’s latest tablet – with Tegra 3 and an HD display on board.

I just had a hands on with Lenovo’s IdeaTap K2 Android Tablet, and I do have to say it is one fine piece of hardware. The IdeaTab is sporting a Tegra 3 processor,  a full HD 1920 x1200 IPS display, dual speakers, and a 8 Megapixel camera. On the outside it is sporting a faux brushed metal back cover, HDMI out, Micro USB, full USB, data SIM card slot (possible 4g?) and an SD card slot.

The IdeaTab was sporting ICS, which was something I was pleased to [...]

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Tablet for Only $150 – Yes, It’s Possible

by: Christine TorralbaJanuary 5, 2012

Admittedly, there hasn’t been a lot of people who’ve heard of Velocity Micro before. One reason for this is because the brand is fairly new to the battle between Android tablets. But despite this, they are worth a shot—especially if you’re looking for a low end Android.

To be honest though, low end does not always get the attention of many—considering that they have questionable specs and outdated Android versions. But in defense of Velocity Micro, they have some pretty neat devices lined up for CES this year.

Note: We’re gonna try not to be too biased here but really, Velocity Micro tablets won’t stand a chance against our personal favorite, the Transformer [...]

No Android 4 ICS Update to Samsung Galaxy S; No Value Pack Too

by: Christine TorralbaJanuary 5, 2012

After Samsung revealed that they will not be updating their Galaxy S line handsets to Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich, speculation about an enhancement package known as the ICS-Lite started to come about. Unfortunately, a spokesperson from the company has denied such rumors and said that older Galaxy units will not be receiving any updates beyond Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

When asked about it, Samsung responded that they had hardware inadequacies and memory issues. Moreover, their Galaxy devices were ‘limited to and fully optimized for the Gingerbreade experience.’ This has led the company to abandon their older handsets and instead, concentrate on newer ones such as the [...]

by: Ken EastJanuary 5, 2012

Pump some Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich into your Nook Color and check out how it will perform. Thanks to developers at XDA Developers, you can now install on your Nook Color a preview version of CyanogenMod 9, which is based on Android 4.0.1 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Since this is a preview build of CyanogenMod 9, it is not yet stable enough to be used for daily operation. So, as early as this point, if you are unsure about what you’re getting into, or if you have little experience with Android hacks (or none at all), it may be good advice for you to proceed with extreme caution–or at least ask for assistance from someone who has more experience.

As far [...]
