Is the Apple iPhone 5 the world’s thinnest smartphone? Yes and no.

by: ŠtefanSeptember 14, 2012
Less than 48 hours have passed since Apple announced the iPhone 5, which means we're barely at the start of all the media coverage we can expect this device to receive from the tech press. One thing people are discussing is Apple's claim that the iPhone 5 is "the thinnest smartphone in the world".

Huawei’s new Emotion UI gets its own Chinese official website, should be up for download soon

by: AdrianJuly 3, 2012

Although it’s still not a name to be reckoned with in the Western technology world, Huawei is certainly making efforts to change that and get in the high-end mix. The Ascend P1, P1S and especially the Ascend D Quad are the devices that could put Huawei on the map in Europe and the US, but unfortunately they still can’t be found in many parts of the world outside Asia.

Huawei will also be trying to draw the attention of tech users with a couple of software innovations, the most important one being the introduction of the Emotion UI for Android 4.0 ICS. The user interface, unveiled back in May, now has its own official website (in Chinese) and should be up for grabs soon [...]

Take that Oppo! At 6.2mm, ZTE Athena is now the world’s thinnest smartphone

by: Bams SadewoMay 31, 2012

Just when you thought the Oppo Finder and its 6.65mm chassis is about to clinch the world’s thinnest smartphone title, along comes another contender that will have Oppo scrambling to go to the gym and do a double check in front of the vanity mirror. ZTE is here to spoil the party for Oppo, by introducing a 6.2mm thick phone that is, for now, known as the Athena.

The ZTE Athena was first spotted in Sina Weibo, where a number of pictures were shared by the company’s director. Though they didn’t come with any specs, a source told Engadget that the ZTE Athena will be powered by a multi-core Cortex-A15 processor and boast a 720p IPS display. From the pictures, it appears to [...]

Oppo teases 6.65 mm thick smartphone, to take the title of world’s thinnest in September

by: AdrianApril 27, 2012

When many of today’s smartphones resemble each other in terms of design, and, to some extent, in terms of hardware and software, manufacturers clearly need some touches of originality here and there, just to differentiate their products. That’s why some phone makers are battling it out for the titles of “world’s most powerful”, “world’s thinnest”, or “world’s lightest” device. However, things change so quickly in the mobile business, that the average user risks getting even more confused when choosing a device based on these self-styled titles.

Case in point: just a few months back, when Huawei unveiled the Ascend P1 S, the device was dubbed the world thinnest [...]

Hands-On with the Powerful and Slim Huawei Ascend P1S Android Smartphone

by: AlexanderJanuary 16, 2012

Currently the smartphone that holds the title of the”World’s Thinnest Smartphone” is the Huawei Ascend P1S, I was kind of surprised that no other manufacturer beat them at CES for that title. Anyways, the Huawei P1S is super thin, but that doesn’t take away from it’s power and speed. It is still super fast and powerful.

The Huawei Ascend P1S comes in at just 6.68mm thick, running on a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and Ice Cream Sandwich on a 4.3-inch qHD display.Sadly it still has capacitive buttons, it was probably in the making before Google announced Ice Cream Sandwich. I must say it’s a beautiful [...]
