Beats Audio – What’s All the Fuss About?

by: Bogdan PetrovanMarch 5, 2012

As you may know, in August 2011, HTC bought the majority ownership of Beats Electronics, the company that makes the favorite high-end headphones of Dr. Dre, Lady Gaga, and a bunch of other celebrities. Beats Electronics’ business model is simple – create product, get rapper/basketball player/movie-star endorsement, sell like crazy. But when they paid $300 million for Beats, HTC probably wanted more than just a piece of the niche, albeit lucrative high-end audio equipment market. HTC wanted to take advantage of the valuable Beats brand image.

Overclock HTC Rezound CPU to 1.728 GHz

by: Alvin YbañezMarch 2, 2012

Faster is definitely better, and with the HTC Rezound getting some clockspeed boost, it could totally blow your mind away.

XDA Developers member SebastianFM was able to juice up and boost the 1.5 GHz dual-core processor of the HTC Rezound, bringing the phone’s clock upwards to 1.728 GHz.  The developer was able to perform some hex editing magic on the stock HTC kernel on the Rezound and succeeded not just in increasing the CPU’s frequency but also the L2 cache up to 1.566 GHz.  This truly is a speed boost.

What’s more is that the overclocked kernel is compatible with any ROM that is based on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

So if you want [...]

Upgrade HTC Rezound to Android 4.0.3 ICS but Without HTC Sense

by: Paul NuñalFebruary 28, 2012

The HTC Rezound is a sleek device with beefy hardware specifications. With HTC promising Ice Cream Sandwich for the phone in the coming months, the HTC Rezound can truly shine even more with the said new upgrade.

For HTC Rezound owners who can’t wait for the official Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade, you might want to go the route of custom ROMs, which almost definitely can satisfy your sugary cravings. XDA Developers member newtoroot, who also brought the famous Ineffabilis Deus Alpha ICS ROM, has posted yet another custom Ice Cream Sandwich ROM called Senseless ROM and based on the latest Android 4.0.3 leaked firmware update for the Rezound. The ROM is actually Sense-free, [...]

HTC Rezound now $79 for New Customers, $159 for Upgrades at Amazon

by: AlexanderJanuary 31, 2012

Just two months after it’s release, the HTC Rezound is now $79.99 for new customers on Amazon. The HTC Rezound is probably one of the best phones on Verizon right now besides the Droid Razr Maxx and the Galaxy Nexus, with it’s unlockable bootloader, 720p display, running on Verizon’s 4G LTE network and of course Beats Audio built right in.

If you’re a current customer, you aren’t out of luck. Amazon is offering the Rezound to current customers who are eligible for an upgrade for just $159, which is $40 off what you would pay at Verizon. But beware of that big $350 ETF (Early Termination Fee).

Who’s ready to place their order? All [...]

What Android Device(s) are you Rocking Right Now?

by: AlexanderJanuary 30, 2012

There is what about 200+ Android devices on the market right now? But which one are you using? Perhaps the Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch on Sprint, or maybe the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon or the GSM version, could it be the HTC Sensation 4G on T-Mobile, or the Motorola Atrix 2 on AT&T’s LTE network, or some other device?

Personally I am running the Motorola Droid Bionic on Android 2.3.4, which is rooted stock on Verizon’s blazing fast 4G LTE network. You can add as much of that information into the comments below, we love seeing our readers get involved in our posts. Feel free to add all your devices or just your daily driver, it’s all up to you. Just [...]

Upgrade HTC Rezound to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC Sense 3.5

by: Alvin YbañezJanuary 28, 2012

As days go by, more and more Android smartphones are already tasting the sweetness of the newest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and soon to be included on the list is HTC Rezound. Although the official firmware upgrade is yet to be released by HTC, you can get a foretaste of Android 4.0.1 on your HTC Rezound, complete with the look and feel of the HTC Sense 3.5 UI.

The leaked update includes only the kernel and system.img.  According to the RootzWiki forum thread discussing this leaked update, the firmware is not stable enough for use daily.  The update also displays watermarks all over.  Most features work, but there are more troublesome functionalities than working [...]

by: AlexanderJanuary 26, 2012

Last night we noticed that Verizon had made the HTC Rezound Update 2.01.605.11 documents go live on their website, so we were pretty sure an update was coming in the coming days. What do ya know, it’s now available! So head into Settings > About Phone > System Updates (or something similar), and the update should be sitting there waiting for you.

Here’s the full changelog for Software Version 2.01.605.11:

HTC Rezound Drops to $199 on Contract, only 2 Months after it’s release

by: AlexanderJanuary 9, 2012

That’s right folks, the first HTC phone to feature Beats Audio natively in the US has now dropped it’s price by $100. With CES taking place this week, and a ton of new phones and tablets being announced, could it be possible that Verizon is launching a new flagship 4G LTE phone this week? Guess we will have to wait and see.

In my opinion the $299 price tag plus the 2-year contract on Verizon without unlimited data was really not a good deal. The $199 price tag is a little bit easier to swallow. But why get the Rezound when you can get a Nexus with Android 4.0 right?

Also need to point out that HTC has added the Rezound to the list of the phones that [...]

Time to Unlock Your HTC Rezound

by: Christine TorralbaDecember 29, 2011

If you’ve been waiting for a while to have your HTC Rezound unit unlocked, now’s the time to do it. HTC has just added help for unlocking the Rezound.

Because the Rezound is still not part of the list of officially supported HTC devices, recovery is not yet available. This limits users from flashing radios and alternate bootloaders. Hopefully, developers will start working on this pretty soon.

But considering the earlier removal of the unlocking method for the Rezound, you might want to do it asap. There’s a high chance that unlocking your bootloader won’t last long.

Unlocking HTC phones is not unusual. In fact, HTC has provided official unlocks to help [...]
