Android 2.2 Froyo coming to HTC Wildfire, Legend, and Desire later this year

HTC has confirmed that it will be updating at least three of its Android smartphones, the Wildfire, Legend, and Desire, with Android 2.2 Froyo in Q3 of this year.  Android 2.2 will offer greatly increased speed for applications and web browsing due to a brand new “virtual machine” for apps and Javascript engine for the web browser. Apps will run 2 to 5 times faster than with Android 2.1, and the web browser’s Javascript support will be 2 to 3 times faster as well. The Dutch version of the HTC Legend seems to be experiencing some problems in the Android Market and we’re not sure who is to blame. Lots of video to put up today, as the floodgates have once again opened in our review queue over at MobileBurn.com.  The first up are Russell Jefferies two videos of the HTC Legend that he received late last week.  This beauty of a phone sports a solid aluminum/aluminium body, and optical joystick, and a sweet AMOLED 480×320 pixel touchscreen display.  Oh yeah, it also packs the latest version of HTC’s awesome Sense user interface. A variant of the HTC Legend was spotted as it made its way through the FCC recently. It was keen observation by the folks at Androphones that tipped them to the HTC Legend. They astutely noticed that the sketch of the label in the FCC documents exactly matches the FCC label on the leaked photos of the Legend that appeared last week. A crudely scanned slide deck detailing HTC’s portfoilo for Q1 and Q2 2010 was leaked by B3ler3fonte over at xda-developers. Described as a prototype brochure, the document was distributed at a global conference hosted by HTC in Vienna during the month of October. Of the eight handsets slated for launch in the first half of 2010, five of them are Android! We have the Legend, the Salsa, the Bravo, the Tide, and the Buzz.
