Although the eager hackers from XDA developers have already launched a Jelly Bean port for the Google / HTC Nexus One, the people behind CyanogenMod have recently announced that the first Nexus smartphone ever will not be officially compatible with Cyanogen versions beyond 7.x (Gingerbread).
Unfortunately, there are also a bunch of other smartphones that won’t be getting official support for Cyanogen Mod 9+, namely almost all smartphones that are based on the first generation Qualcomm Snapdragon processors (this translates into “all smartphones using a QSD8x50, MSM7x25, MSM7x27 or MSM7x27T SoC”). Some of the most popular smartphones based on the Snapdragon S1 are the [...]

This month Vodafone UK are launching not one, but three Android based devices. Vodafone are one of the strongest networks in the UK in terms of customer support and 3G signal. There has been no better time to switch networks given that there is such a wealth of choice for any Android enthusiast. The HTC Legend is now available for pre-order on Vodafone UK, and other websites operating as resellers for Vodafone. The website quite clearly states that if you pre-order yours today you should receive it first, and it is expected on 6 April, which is a Tuesday. It wouldn’t surprise me if this ended up hitting your pocket by Monday or earlier. Vodafone as pushing the fact there is ‘Adobe Flash’ for ‘great looking websites’.
Want a phone you can make your own? Go for the HTC Legend. With up to seven home screens, there’s plenty of room to get things how you like them. And inside, there’s [...]
The Dutch version of the HTC Legend seems to be experiencing some problems in the Android Market and we’re not sure who is to blame. HTC have come right out and said that the restricted access to applications such as Skype and Layer is not their doing, putting the onus firmly with Google. Google are yet to release a formal statement, but it is probably unlikely that they are blocking these applications on purpose.
The HTC Legend itself is an attractive piece of kit. “The sleek unibody design with a brilliant AMOLED display and a brushed metallic finish, feels great in your hand and stirs admiration from those around. Along [...]
Lots of video to put up today, as the floodgates have once again opened in our review queue over at MobileBurn.com. The first up are Russell Jefferies two videos of the HTC Legend that he received late last week. This beauty of a phone sports a solid aluminum/aluminium body, and optical joystick, and a sweet AMOLED 480×320 pixel touchscreen display. Oh yeah, it also packs the latest version of HTC’s awesome Sense user interface.
The first video is directly below, the second follows after the jump – along with a small selection of photos from Russell’s upcoming review.
A variant of the HTC Legend was spotted as it made its way through the FCC recently. It was keen observation by the folks at Androphones that tipped them to the HTC Legend. They astutely noticed that the sketch of the label in the FCC documents exactly matches the FCC label on the leaked photos of the Legend that appeared last week. It is unmistakable as the label has a unique shape due to the unusual battery cover and unibody design of the Legend. Future Legend owners in the US should not start jumping for joy quite yet as this version of the Legend received approval for GSM 850/1900 only; 3G bands were not included so this particular model may not be destined for the US. Now that [...]
A crudely scanned slide deck detailing HTC’s portfoilo for Q1 and Q2 2010 was leaked by B3ler3fonte over at xda-developers. Described as a prototype brochure, the document was distributed at a global conference hosted by HTC in Vienna during the month of October. Of the eight handsets slated for launch in the first half of 2010, five of them are Android! We have the Legend, the Salsa, the Bravo, the Tide, and the Buzz. Remember that leaked HTC Android 2.1 ROM that contained codenames for future HTC devices? The Legend and Bravo are included on the list. Let’s not waste any more time and delve into the juicy details about each of these handsets. [...]
