Android App for Waking Your HTC Evo 3D with Sliding Gesture

by: Ken EastFebruary 27, 2012

It is a usual thing to wake up your Android device using a basic button that every device must have–the Power button. Admittedly, it really is not the most convenient way to wake up your device.

For those devices that have buttons on the front, it will be easier–at least for those that have them.  But, how about those that have none of these? This is the problem with a device like the HTC EVO 3D.  It has a Power button and Volume keys, but none of them can actually be found on the front of the device.

To solve this problem, there is an app specifically created to answer this need of the HTC EVO 3D.  The app is called Ponury Gesture Mod, or [...]

Did the HTC Evo 3D Fail to Amuse President Obama?

by: Christine TorralbaFebruary 3, 2012

Okay, so there’s been a photo of a slightly amused President Obama holding the HTC Evo 3D. Apart from a solid proof that his administration runs on Android, we have good reason to believe that Obama prefers the Android smartphone OS.

So in this photo, the President’s with two other people—a blond white lady who apparently is a wife of a Nascar racer; and another bearded guy who, presumably, is a representative of HTC (either that or he’s just an unknown person taking interest on what the President is looking at).

Sources say that the HTC Evo 3D is not the phone of the President. He was simply watching a racing highlight on the phone; probably something HTC is [...]

HTC EVO 3D’s Recent Maintenance Update Removes Carrier IQ

by: AlexanderJanuary 16, 2012

Lately there has been a huge deal with Carrier IQ being on people’s Android devices. I don’t know about all of you, but I am sick and tired of hearing about it, but I had to bring this last bit of news to you. Last week we posted about the HTC EVO 3D maintenance update that Sprint had confirmed they were rolling out, this update removed Carrier IQ from your EVO 3D!

If you compare the screen shot above with the one below you will notice that HTC IQAgent and IQRD are now no longer listed on the device. With this news, it takes the number of devices that Sprint has Carrier IQ on from 26 million down to a number a bit smaller. We aren’t expecting Sprint to take [...]

HTC Amaze 4G Cam App Ported to HTC EVO 3D

by: Carl ParkerNovember 25, 2011

Better images can now be taken with your HTC EVO 3D phones. XDA Developers member Igor Bezkrovny has successfully allowed the camera application on the HTC Amaze 4G to run on the HTC EVO 3D.

The ported app can be installed on both rooted and non-rooted EVO 3D handsets.  According to Bezkrovny, users of non-rooted EVO 3D units can simply install the Android Package (APK) file that he has created.  Owners of rooted EVO 3D handset can either install the APK file or flash the ZIP file containing the app.

Some of the modifications include changing the 3D resolution to 2048×1152, long-pressing to capture photos, and setting the JPEG quality to 100%.

HTC Finally Responds To Spying Claims

by: Bern OliverOctober 11, 2011

There have been recent claims on the recently updated HTC Sensation and HTC EVO 3D spying on users, by collecting data such as location and different user behaviors. HTC has responded to this by assuring consumers that they have nothing to worry about.

The company has no intention of collecting user information without their knowledge and that any data collected is done on an opt-in basis. This only happens when an error occurs and the user sends a report to HTC. However, even if personal information is forwarded to HTC, the data sent is encrypted and the company makes sure that it is stripped of any identifying factors.
