When the Nvidia Tegra 3 platform was first announced, with its four (plus one) Cortex-A9 cores, it was unquestionably, the best SoC on the horizon. Since then, we’ve seen competitors such as Qualcomm pushing the limits of dual-core processors, as seen with benchmark comparisons of Tegra 3 vs Snapdragon S4.
But slowly, the once highly-acclaimed Tegra 3 processor begins to lose its luster. Adding to the problems for Nvidia, Samsung will likely use its Exynos quad-core processor (expected to be clocked at 1.8Ghz) paired with 2GB RAM, to power the most awaited Android device of the year, the Samsung Galaxy S3.
So it might already be time for Nvidia to look [...]
As fans of the Galaxy S series are fully aware, Samsung is soon to release a new variant of the Exynos SoC (system on a chip), namely the 4412, expected to be first seen in action on the Samsung Galaxy S3. Although it’s no news that Samsung will build the chip in-house (as they have done so for most of their flagship smartphones since the original Galaxy S), sources quoted by Digitimes claim that Samsung might sell the Exynos 4412 to other OEMs, thus engaging in direct competition with the other SoC manufacturers.
While the exact Exynos 4412 specs are yet to be announced, it is estimated that the new SoC from Samsung will be built using the 32nm manufacturing process [...]
This quad core 1.5 Ghz Exynos chip isn’t exactly a surprise, because Samsung talked about it (Exynos 4412) before. Not to mention that there were plenty of Galaxy S3 rumors that said it has a quad core 1.5 Ghz processor. But they haven’t shown it yet, and they will get the opportunity to do so at MWC very soon.
The Exynos 4412 is made at 32nm, so it should be more efficient than the Tegra 3 at maximum load, which was made at 40 nm, but not sure if overall, too, because Tegra 3 has that 5th core for lower-end tasks. They say it offers a 26% performance improvement in processor performance, which if you do the math you realize it almost entirely comes from [...]
It looks like Samsung is already getting ready to release 2 more tablets very soon. These 2 screenshots show that Samsung is getting Wi-Fi certifications for 2 new devices, both which have dual-band Wi-Fi. Although they are put in the “smartphone” category, we know they are tablets because of their naming convention. GT stands for Galaxy Tab, and P stands for its category (tablet). So what will these tablets be about?
First of all, the GT-P5100 one should be the one we’ve already been hearing rumors about, the one that is supposed to have a display larger than 10.1″, an ultra-HD resolution of 2560×1600, and last but not least a very [...]
