From all of us here at Android Authority, we hope you’re having a wonderful holiday season. Being the time of year that it is, we have just a short, roughly 30 minute show for you this week, covering a few top topics from the past few days.
On the Google Ecosystem front, Google Play released their top apps of 2012. According to Google, these apps really make Android shine. They are the best apps available for your favorite Android tablet or smartphone. While some some launched this past year, others received updates offered great utility, beauty and accessibility. Next up is Google Music. Users are reporting that their explicit lyric song versions [...]
After way too many delays and broken promises, as well as a fistful of rumors and speculations that proved to be inaccurate, Motorola has just (barely) made it on providing the much awaited Android 4.0 ICS update for the Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx by the end of Q2.
Moto promised its customers to have the upgrade live “sometime in Q2” more than a month ago, and, with just a few hours before the official beginning of the year’s third quarter, RAZR and RAZR Maxx owners can now taste their first scoops of Ice Cream Sandwich.
The update’s rollout was announced on Twitter yesterday by Scott Charlston, one of Verizon’s PR representatives, and, based on feedback from [...]
It’s always a pleasure to be the bearer of good news, especially when it comes to sharing with people what we know about an impending arrival of Ice Cream Sandwich on their Android devices. But before we do, we just want to make sure you know that this hasn’t been fully confirmed yet by Verizon. With that in mind, owners of Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx may want to mark down June 12 on their calendar, as that’s the date that Verizon apparently will roll out the ICS update for the two Droids.
According to internal sources quoted by CNET, the OTA update to Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich for both Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx will be pushed out on June 12. While there [...]
An expandable external storage is really an advantage if you need more storage space on your Android phone or tablet. However, having both internal and external storage can be a problem, as well, since some Android apps are not programmed to read data on external SD cards. Rather, such apps treat the internal storage as also the external storage; thus, such apps are unable to access the files you’ve stored on your external microSD card.
MIUI-based ROMs often exhibit such a limitation. Some MIUI-based ROMs actually are blind to files (such as music files) on the microSD card, so those files don’t show in the MIUI File Manager at all.
If you have a DROID RAZR, then good for you. Motorola has included one of the most useful apps, Smart Actions, to make life just a wee bit easier for the user. Basically, it allows the phone to perform certain actions when certain conditions are fulfilled. For example, you could set your phone to automatically switch to WiFi (Action) when you enter your home or office (Trigger). Or, you can change your sound profile to silent during your sleeping hours. Once you have set the triggers and actions, you don’t have to think about them again.
What about the rest of us who don’t have a DROID RAZR and the associated Smart Actions app? Fret not [...]
Motorola has just released the changelog for the impending update that will be rolling out to your Motorola Droid Razr or Razr Maxx in the next few days, to members of the Motorola Feedback Network. This list is a bit different from the one that was recently released by Verizon. Hopefully this update will be out to everyone in the next week or two. We will keep you posted.
