A White House petition asking the Obama administration to “Make Unlocking Cell Phones Legal” needs 38K more votes in the following 12 days to go through.

Do you want mobile unlocking to be legal? You can sign the White House We the People petition to compel government to act on the issue.
Mobile phone unlocking will be in violation of the DMCA by January 26. Users will need explicit permission from carriers if we don’t want to break the law.
