According to a recent post by a Motorola employee on the Motorola Support Forums, Moto has been having a bit more trouble getting OpenGL working on the CLIQ, CLIQ XT, and BackFlip than expected, which is delaying the already long delayed update to Android 2.1 for these devices, which was originally promised for Q2 of 2010. The statement reads as follows: The quality of experience for consumers is a top priority in providing upgrades to our current product portfolio. In working through Android 2.1 upgrades for CLIQ, CLIQ XT, and Backflip, certain hardware configurations have been limiting upgrade capabilities. We …
T-Mobile USA is looking for 1,000 Motorola CLIQ XT users to test run a software update it hopes to release. Interested users should head over to the T-Mobile forums to sign-up.
On Saturday Motorola announced, via Twitter, that a new firmware revision(1.31.44) for the Motorola CLIQ XT for T-Mobile USA is rolling out. Like the last update for the CLIQ, this is a dual-stage update. You’ll be prompted to update once, and then once that process has completed, you should be prompted to apply the second update to get you to the latest firmware. According to Motorola, the update offers the following enhancements: Improves Overall Phone Performance – Generally improves data connectivity while reducing the occurrence of freeze-ups, resets, and random forced quits. Visual Voice Mail Enhancements – Enhanced design and …
I just got finished posting Todd Haselton’s review of the T-Mobile branded Motorola CLIQ XT on MobileBurn.com. Todd likes the device in general, and thinks it has more going for it than “a CLIQ without a keyboard” would seem to suggest. I agree. He was unimpressed with the CLIQ XT’s camera, but really liked the new connected media player application that Motorola has included. Other wins were the Swype text input system, fast data, and built-in Flash Lite support. You’ll find the full CLIQ XT review here. I’ve added a small gallery after the jump.
MOTOBLUR lovers that prefer the AWS spectrum for 3G can rejoice as the Motorola CLIQ XT is now available for your buying pleasure. Point your browser to T-Mobile’s website or hoof it to your local store where you can drop $129 with an Even More plan and a two year contract for this Android 1.5 handset. Need more details on the handset before making that commitment? Then check out MobileBurn’s hands-on review in which Todd Haselton covers everything from unboxing, booting, and beyond.
Another of our MobileBurn compatriots, Todd Haselton, has put together a video of the new Motorola CLIQ XT for T-Mobile USA that he’s currently reviewing. The CLIQ XT is very much like an original CLIQ that has lost its keyboard and gained a new touchpad controller and camera flash.
Good news for Canadians on Wednesday as Motorola announced that it is bringing three MOTOBLUR handsets to Canada with all the major wireless carriers. All three devices have been previously announced and include the Motorola DEXT (CLIQ), the Motorola BACKFLIP, and the Motorola QUENCH (CLIQ XT). Despite their common MOTOBLUR interface, each handset offers something different for the Canadian Android user- the DEXT features a side sliding QWERTY keyboard, the BACKFLIP offers an unusual, backwards-folding, external QWERTY keyboard and the QUENCH sheds the physical keyboard and adopts a full touchscreen design. If you need a refresher on each handset, check …
TmoNews got its hands on an internal T-Mobile document that provides a sneak peek at the pricing for several upcoming T-Mobile handsets, including the Motorola CLIQ XT. According to the leaked document, the CLIQ XT will debut at a reasonable $129.99 after rebate and two year agreement, while the phone sans contract will set you back an acceptable $329.99. Hopefully, these prices will not jump around as we approach the CLIQ XT’s rumored March 10th launch date. For those that can’t wait another eight days, head over to Mobile Burn for a closer look at this upcoming Android handset.
I spent a bit of time with the new Motorola QUENCH / CLIQ XT here in Barcelona. Below is the video I shot of the device, but if you want to see the pile of photos as well as my thoughts on the changes from the CLIQ, read my full Motorola CLIQ XT gallery story on MobileBurn.com.
Earlier today we reported on the official unveiling of the mystery Motorola phone previously known as the Zeppelin. Now being called the CLIQ XT/Quench, Engadget has been lovely enough to shoot a video for us on the new device. Showing off Motoblur, which seems to be a love/hate relationship with users right now the phone has a solid look to it and interchangeable backs allowing for user customization. The screen looks very responsive and the OS is running seen running smoothly. A detail previously unknown is that the device comes preloaded with Swype text input which is a fantastic feature …
Motorola have gone all official on the device codenamed Zeppelin, recently announcing it as the Motorola Cliq XT in America and the Motorola Quench everywhere else. The Cliq XT is a fairly good looking device and offers everything one would expect of a mid to high-end smartphone device. The highlights include a 3.1-inch touchscreen high resolution display (expected to be 480 x 320 pixels) along with pinch and zoom muilti-touch capabilities. There is also a 5MP camera offering auto focus and LED flash, as well as a navigation touchpad and a dual-mic noise cancellation system. Naturally there is support for …
Earlier reports of the Motorola Zeppelin surfacing are starting to look more and more confirmed as an internal PowerPoint slide by T-Mobile has been leaked that may justify a few of the details we have already touched on. The slide was leaked on a PPCGeeks forum via MobileTechWorld and specifies a March 10 release date on T-Mobile and possibly an official name of CLIQ XT. If you read our previous coverage of the device you will remember that March 10 lines up perfectly as does the Cliq-esque nature of the phone with the exception of a physical keyboard. Lower end …
