Everyone believes the Android platform is more secure compared to other mobile platforms such as Windows Phone or Symbian. However, hackers can still find their way to penetrate a platform’s sturdy wall.
Recently, a Trojan horse virus, which appeared as “harmless media player,” was discovered by a group of developers. Phones infected with this virus started sending spam messages to other mobile phone users. The DroidDream malware also hit a number of apps in the Android Market. These malware programs or viruses bring devastating effects, such as recording phone calls, stealing information, accessing confidential information, and making unauthorized [...]
Good news to all developers who have been blocked from the Android Market! A new app is in talks of being developed especially for those who are in the black market. Despite a contradicting report made by The Wall Street Journal, a source who’s more familiar with the issue said that the Android Market will not be making its way to China anytime in the near future. It was just last week when The Journal reported that Google had a goal of bringing the Android Market into the country, thus they are pursuing partnerships with the local carriers who would like to offer the app store on their devices. However, an unnamed source mentioned by InsideMobileApps disclosed that ‘such a move is still in the exploratory phase and isn’t as far along as the Journal suggests.’
One of the reasons why this isn’t happening, is because of its own [...]
During last week’s CES 2012 event, Research In Motion (RIM) showcased a new device called the PlayBook OS 2.0. While many got excited for its upgraded and native email client, more people got interested in the fact that the version promised to run Android apps. RIM’s Vice President of Developer Relations and Ecosystem Development, Alec Saunders, has said that a few ‘number of thousands’ of Android apps shall be available once the PlayBook OS 2.0 becomes available.
However, the device is not pre-loaded with the ability to run Android apps. A software program will be required for a compatible format to the device. Moreover, developers need to put their apps through the [...]

The Android Market holds a lot of useful Android apps for a variety of Android devices. Some of the apps on the Android Market, however, are incompatible with some handset models. This often causes disappointment among some users who would like to try out such incompatible apps on their own handsets.
The good news, however, is that someone has found a method for tricking the Android Market into allowing you to download and install apps to your handset even if the apps are marked as incompatible with such handset.
All you need to do is tweak some file on your device. This can get a little technical, but it’s a simple procedure that almost anyone can [...]
Another big milestone for Google and Android. Last month Google’s Android Market hit 10 Billion downloads – the Android Market is also seeing about 1 billion downloads per day – and today it was announced that the Android Market now has 400, 000 apps available for download. The iOS Store has 500,000 apps – which counts both iPhone and iPad apps – so Google is closing in on the competition, already passed Windows Phone mobile a while ago.
Great growth for an app market that has only been around for about three years. On average thats about 133,000 new apps every year! The year of 2011 was a big year for Android, hitting 200,000 apps in the [...]
