You just have to love the things created by the hardworking developers in the XDA Developers community because they’re continuously improving our lives and end-user experience. Take, for instance, what XDA Developers member vicino has done to make the Recent Apps switcher look and function better on the Galaxy Nexus.
The native Recent Apps switcher in both Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean allows you to see what recent apps are running in the background and also preview their respective app screens. But, vicino has taken it further and styled it.
The modification is easy to install. It only requires flashing a package in [...]
We’re getting closer and closer to that Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update that’s rumored to be rolled out on August 29, shortly after the Galaxy Note 2 event, which we’ll be attending live, and we hear there’s one more leaked Jelly Bean build for the handset out there.
After versions I9300XXDLH4 and I9300XXDLG4, dated August and July, respectively, it’s now time to look at version I9300XXDLH7, that’s available to install on the Galaxy S3 right now.
While this is a leaked Android 4.1.1 build for the handset, originating from Samsung, we’re definitely not advising you to flash it to your Galaxy S3 version, especially now that [...]
The hottest Android handset in town, the Galaxy S3, is about to receive the latest Android version, Jelly Bean, in the near future. We have seen rumors that suggested the device will get Android 4.1.1 in the third quarter of the year, only to be followed by new reports offering a more specific roll out date, August 29.
We then saw a bunch of Jelly Bean test firmware leak for the Galaxy S3, alongside proper installation instructions and we figured it was only a matter of time until Samsung and its carrier partners released the update.
Now we hear, via Android Central, that the August 29 roll out date for the Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean ROM [...]
Some people might be sick of hearing about Android 4.1 Jelly Bean right about now, but we can’t imagine why they would be. We love the new update and the features it packs with it. If you’re scared to try flashing any of the Jelly Bean-based custom ROMs that developers have been cooking, that’s okay. Perhaps you need a little preview to whet your appetite.
Introducing Holo Launcher HD. This launcher lets you get a taste of what Jelly Bean’s interface is like. To be able to run this Jelly Bean home launcher on your Android device, you need your phone to be running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
The moment you launch the app, [...]
A few days ago, we heard that Samsung may rollout the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for its flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S3, on August 29, at least for some versions. At the same time, we found out that a test Jelly Bean firmware for the handset has been leaked, and that anyone interested in installing it was able to do so.
But now it looks there’s a second Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean build out there, version I9300XXDLH4, which can also be flashed to your Galaxy S3 device, if you so desire. The news comes from Sam Mobile, the same publication that got Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean scoops in the recent past.
As always, we’ll remind [...]
There’s no doubt about it, the Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update is coming soon. Yesterday we heard that Samsung may release the update on August 29, which also happens to be the Galaxy Note 2 announcement day, and we also saw a video of a Galaxy S3 handset running a leaked Jelly Bean test firmware.
Now Sam Mobile reports that the I9300XXDLG4 firmware is available to anyone interested in testing Jelly Bean on their Galaxy S3 handset, and provides installation instructions.
Version I9300XXDLG4 is based on Jelly Bean and has a July 31 2012 build date, but since this is a pre-release ROM it’s not exactly advisable to install it [...]
The air is buzzing with news and developments about Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. There’s no doubt that many folks want to get their phones running this flavorful treat, and Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 users are just about to get started.
The credit goes to XDA Developers member toxicthunder who compiled a Jelly Bean-based custom ROM for the 5.3 inch phone-tablet, bringing in smooth and slick Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean features along with the performance improvements and customizations — all these courtesy of some of the best from the CyanogenMod 10 (CM10) and Android Open Kang Project sources.
Half Illusion as this ROM is called, suggests [...]
Google’s latest two Android versions are yet to become available to the majority of Android users, who are anxiously waiting for their devices to be updated to ICS and / or Jelly Bean. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is available officially only on over 15% of existing devices, and Android 4.1 Ice Cream Sandwich is approaching the 1% mark.
Sure, there are plenty of unofficial ways to run either Android version on your existing device already, but we’re strictly referring to official Android builds here.
Whether you’re already an Android device owner, or whether you’re thinking about buying an [...]
We recently saw that the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS is already available on 0.8% of current Android devices. Granted, this is mostly because of the very successful release of the Nexus 7 tablet, and the quick upgrade rollout to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the WiFi version of the Motorola Xoom, as promised by Google. Needless to say, the current distribution of Jelly Bean is in a far better state than ICS, after it was first announced last year.
Even though the WiFi version of the Motorola Xoom received the update a while back, the rollout for the 4G LTE version, available from Verizon, would take a while, as it’s once again dependent [...]
The Galaxy S3 smartphone is the hottest Android smartphone in town, but the device is still running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. We have already seen unofficially Jelly Bean builds for Samsung’s flagship device, including a CyanogenMod 10 preview ROM, but Samsung is yet to announce Android 4.1 availability dates for the handset.
Furthermore, there are plenty of other Samsung devices we expect to get Jelly Bean soon, including the Galaxy S2, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note 2 and many others, but the South Korean company has not mentioned any Jelly Bean rollout dates for these devices either.
Sam Mobile now has more details about each of [...]
