It turns out that T-Mobile USA have delayed the roll out of Cupcake to the G1. Apparently, they are continuing to optimize Cupcake to ensure that it works perfectly and that the roll out is trouble free. Sitting over in the UK, I can confirm that many T-Mobile UK users are able to use Cupcake satisfactorily despite the fact that it is developed over in the USA. Why T-Mobile UK were able to distribute the update quicker than T-Mobile remains a mystery. Alas, I think we can rest assured knowing that very little optimization is going on and it is more a case of T-Mobile USA organizing themselves for a mass roll out. After all, they’re not the largest of USA carriers.
It’s not all doom and gloom, however. It seems as though Gmail Mobile has received improvements to the label support we’ve already mentioned. To have a crack at using this new functionality, simply open up an email and select the ‘More’ button for the menu options. From here you should be able to select the ‘Label as…’ option, and if you press it, you’ll see a bunch of Gmail labels you’ve already made from your desktop. Neat huh? Select however many labels as you see fit and then press apply. Voila!
