February is a big month for New Orleans. With tons of tourists coming to the city, T-Mobile has now announced they are beefing up and expanding their 4G coverage in the area just in time.

While U.S. Football fans are already well aware of this, for the rest of you: This weekend New Orleans will be packed with fans coming in for the Super Bowl. Just a few weeks later, Mardi Gras will arrive as well.

With all the additional texting, tweeting and downloading going on, T-Mobile is wise to gear up for the coming crowds now. In addition to expanding its 4G presence, T-Mobile also plans on installing a Distributed Antenna System that will allow folks inside and around the Superdome to have as crystal clear access to their network as possible.

For Mardi Gras, T-Mobile also intends to install “Cells on Wheels” in Weidenberg Park to increase voice and data load capacities. Last but not least, T-Mobile has created a Command Center for monitoring network use in the area and ensuring that all runs well.

The bottom-line is that if you are coming for the Super Bowl or Mardi Gras and are a T-Mobile customer, cellular coverage shouldn’t be a problem. It’s also worth noting that T-Mobile assures that these network improvements in New Orleans will remain after February and beyond.
