Continuing with the stream of KitKat updates that have been heading out to various carrier branded Galaxy S4 handsets over the past few weeks, T-Mobile is now also pushing out its Android 4.4.2 Kitkat update to the popular Samsung smartphone.
The update is available over-the-air starting from today, with the file size coming in at 388MB. The update brings with it the modified Android KitKat OS and a couple of other Samsung specific tweaks. Here’s the changelog from T-Mobile’s website:
- Android 4.4.2 KitKat (baseband version M919UVUFNB4)
- Improved stability
- New camera shortcut on the lock screen
- Improved on screen keyboard
If you don’t fancy an OTA update, you can still manually download and install the new baseband version through Samsung Kies. T-Mobile suggests that you’re running the latest version of Kies before installing the update.
As always, make sure that your handset has plenty of charge before starting (at least 50%). You will also already have to be using the existing Android 4.3 software version (M919UVUEMK2) before updating to KitKat, which shouldn’t be a problem if you’ve updated in the past.
Hat tip to Wilfredo and Roger for the heads up.
