T-Mobile UK has dropped the minimum 18 month contract required to get a T-Mobile G1 for free from £40 to £30 per month.

The £30 “Combi” plan includes 700 minutes of talk time, unlimited texting, and free access to the internet.  The older £40 Combi plan is still available, and offers 100 additional minutes of talk time monthly.
