Swype now available as a limited public beta

Originally designed for distribution by OEMs, Swype has reversed course and is opening up its software to the public as a limited beta. The public version of Swype supports HVGA and WVGA devices, English and Spanish languages, and is feature-limited, though Swype does not identify which features have been removed from the OEM version. Initially, spots are limited so point your browser to Swype’s website as soon as possible. If you miss the cut, relax as the beta trial is expected to be expanded soon.

I have downloaded this to my Motorola A855 Droid and it doesn’t even work. I have to tap for every letter. I have even disabled the Android keyboard to try and force it to work. I love this app on the Omnia 2 and hope it works really soon

Announced for T-Mobile USA users previously, Android users can now sign up for Swype in a beta version. The beta version is not for those who already have Swype pre-installed. It supports English and Spanish but comes in limited features as some key features required OEM integration according to Swype. Check out the detail here.
