Just in case you’ve been sleeping under a rock, I’l remind you all that the Motorola DROID and the HTC DROID ERIS for Verizon Wireless are now available as of today. The Moto costs $199.99…
I have no idea what it is about this particular rumour that is so appealing to the internet right now. But it is, so I thought I would mention it here and consider it. Say hello to a square version of the Droid…
An original post by John Walton who runs DroidDog, an off-shoot of PhoneDog, has published a photo (shown to the right here), of some rather weird looking square version of the Motorola Droid. This device is alleged to run Android 2.1 along with Motorola Blur. We have no obvious reference for size here. I thought that it could be some kind of tablet based hybrid smartphone, but it is difficult to tell. The display/screen resolution is good, but nothing in the ‘tablet’ arena, making this more likely to be a fairly small device, relatively speaking.
However, I am getting ahead of myself here. The story goes like this. Someone knows someone who knows someone else, who’s cat likes someone else’s cat, who owner’s son took a photo of someone else’s phone and it turned out to be the image you’re looking at now.
“My source says his buddy’s dad works for Motorola and let his son take the phone to school, who, in turn, lent the phone to my source to be used as a calculator on a math test.”
OK so there is nothing about cats in that quote, but you get the picture. Good times. The funnier thing is that DroidDog have actually ‘removed’ the image of the myserty device from their own site upon the request of the tipster.
“Post removed at request of the leaker. It’s all over the place now so see it…all over the place. Looks like the square Moto is definitely real. I’ve seen more pictures, though I won’t post them unless I’m given permission.”
This makes it no more real in my eyes, but its a nice ploy nonetheless. Does anyone have any extra information on this or an opinion on whether this could be a real device?
