Let’s face it: keeping up with the latest technology is expensive. For those on a strict budget, having a decent tablet and smartphone isn’t always easy. According to a trusted source reporting to Techno Buffalo, a new deal is coming to Sprint that gives consumers a way to get a free ZTE Optik tablet with the purchase of a new smartphone.
What’s the catch? In order to qualify, you will need to sign for two-year contracts tied to both devices. But what’s great is that any smartphone offered through Sprint will qualify. If you’re planning on getting a new Sprint smartphone, this deal is hard to beat, even if the ZTE Optik isn’t the best tablet around. The ZTE Optik features a 7-inch 1280×800 display, a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB storage, a 4,000 mAh battery, 5MP rear camera, a 2MP front camera and Android 3.2 Honeycomb.
While the ZTE Optik isn’t going to blow away most tablets out on the market, it’s hard to beat the price of free, and the ZTE Optik is really one of the few tablets Sprint has to offer. If the source proves correct, the promotion will start on August 12th and will run through September 30th.

I’ll sign up, as soon as they have the Galaxy Note 2.
Do you happen to know if this ZTE Optik device can be upgraded to run the newer Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean operating system? Or is this device incompatible with the new Android OS? I’d very much appreciate your assistance and/or guidance in this matter as I tend to not trust the Sprint salesman very much.
