Android 4.4 KitKat update begins rolling out to Sprint Galaxy S4 owners
If you’re itching to get your hands on KitKat and are a Galaxy S4 owner on Sprint’s network, you’ll be happy to know that your day in the sun is almost here! The Android 4.4 KitKat update is now starting to roll out to Sprint’s network, arriving under the build name L720VPUFNAE.
So what’s new with the update? First up, you get Android 4.4 KitKat and all the new features that the latest version of Android brings with it, such as Hangouts and SMS integration, camera improvements and more. Beyond that, there’s also some Samsung-specific changes as well.
Although the change-log only specifically mentions S Health and SMS enhancements, prior firmware leaks suggest that we’ll at least see some user interface tweaks such as the KitKat-style white status icons. We’d also imagine some of Samsung’s apps will receive minor updates and bug fixes, too.
If you have yet to receive a notification informing you of the update, you can always try looking for the OTA by going to the “About Device” section on your Galaxy S4. Keep in mind that the rollout will likely occur in stages, so it may take a few days to reach everyone.
Any Sprint GS4 owners get the update yet to KitKat? If so, did all go as expected or where there any snags along the way?
