HTC Hero

HTC Hero for Sprint

Today Sprint announced that its version of the HTC Hero will be available to customers on October 11.  The Sprint version of the device loses the original’s chin, as we had heard, but still features the Sense-based user interface, with its tight twitter and facebook integration and 7 panel sliding homescreen.

Sprint will offer the device for US179.99, after rebates, and it will require a plan with unlimited date (which start at $69.99 with 450 minutes).

We just got off the phone with Sprint and we’ve been told that we’ll have one of the very first Sprint Hero’s for review.  Not ETA on that yet, but we’ll keep you posted.

i am curious on one thing, i remember hearing this awhile back but i wasnt sure if it was true or not that the marketplace wouldnt be available to the hero (both version now i guess) since the apps wouldnt be compatible with the htc sense, anyone know if this is true or not?

That’s completely not true at all. The only reason an application wouldn’t be compatible with Sense is if the developer did something very wrong. The Android Market will be available on the Hero. Sprint even advertises the Market on their promo material.

Will the Hero be Mac compatible? I’ve been considering switching to AT&T for the iPhone and its compatibility with my Mac, but if I can get the Hero to work with my Mac, I may stick with Sprint.
If it’s not compatible, does anyone know HTC’s future roadmap for the Hero and if they plan on Mac support eventually?

I am looking at the Droid Eris-Htc, and the Blackberry Storm @ 9550 (for Verizon). I am a mac guy, and am wondering about functionality with my mac apps?
