sony xperia z1 review aa 14

Back in November, Sony promised that Android 4.3 would begin rolling out to select devices starting in December. Now that the month is half over, the rollout has finally begun — at least for owners of the Sony Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra.

Aside from all the expected 4.3 Jelly Bean changes, Sony has also brought quite a few Sony-specific updates. There’s an improved interface, updated Sony native apps, and the Xperia Z Ultra even gets the Sony Smart Social Camera that was originally introduced with the Z1.

Aside from all the expected 4.3 Jelly Bean changes, Sony has also brought quite a few Sony-specific updates.

Sony says the update will also bring better integration between Movies, Walkman and Album apps and its cloud-based Entertainment Network. Additionally, users will now be able to further customize the UI using “Xperia Themes”.

Although at least some Z1 and Z Ultra users should receive the update today, Sony pointed out in a blog post that the launch times will vary depending on carriers and the region in which you live. For those that are rocking the Xperia, Xperia ZL and other devices that were promised an Android 4.3 upgrade, Sony teases that the rest of its Android 4.3 rollout is “just around the corner”.

So how about it, has your Xperia Z1 or Z Ultra received an upgrade notification yet? If so, what country are you in, and what network are you using? Let us know in the comments!
