Sony is going to hold a press conference at CES later today, but that's still not stopping the internet from leaking the company's devices! According to one of Engadget's sources who shall remain nameless, what you're looking at below is the Xperia Z. It's rumored to have a 5 inch 1080p screen, quad core processor, and all the other goodies you'd come to expect from such a high end device.
We only have two questions about this handset. One, when is it going to hit store shelves? It's one thing to announce a smartphone, but it's something completely different to actually ship it. HTC's 1080p packing Butterfly/DNA is already out, so we know it's possible to make 1080p devices. And as for the second question, it's about the price tag. How much will the Xperia Z cost and will it be comparable to the other 1080p devices on the market?
Speaking about the other 1080p devices, we'd like to remind you that there's a rumor floating around that says LG is going to announce their own 5.5 inch 1080p phone at CES. There's also the Huawei Ascend D2, but knowing Huawei's track record, it's going to take at least half a year to be available.
Keep you're eyes peeled, we're here at CES and will bring you more details as we get them.
