After launching in the USA with T-Mobile, the Xperia Z is now officially heading to Canada, where Bell will be the exclusive carrier of the handset.
The Xperia Z is Sony’s current flagship smartphone, a device that probably doesn’t need any more introductions considering that it’s one of the best Android high-end options out there, right alongside the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One.
While Sony Mobile Canada issued a press release to properly announce the launch of the handset with Bell, an actual launch date is not available at this time – Sony does say that the handset will arrive “later this month,” which means it should hit stores in the following two weeks.
The carrier already stocks the Sony Xperia ZL, which is available for $49.95 with new three-year contracts.
The handset will be available in black, white and purple, and you can already pre-register for more information on Bell’s website (see Source links below) – registering also gets you a chance to win one of the five Xperia Z offered as prizes by the carrier.
Like other carriers in their marketing materials, Bell insists on the phone’s waterproof abilities on that registration page, offering various videos which show the kind of situations that lead to a handset getting wet.
While pricing isn’t offered, we’ll note that the Galaxy S4 and HTC One sell for $229.95 and $149.95, respectively, both with new three-year Bell contracts.

Intelligent Sony Technology
Since it was announced in January, Xperia Z has won 13 awards and received the widest ranging of any Sony smartphone to date with 140 sales channels in 60 markets across the globe. Xperia Z’s razor-sharp Reality Display, powered by Mobile BRAVIA® Engine 2, brings Sony’s long-standing TV expertise to the smartphone and delivers an immersive viewing experience with super brightness and clarity. Xperia Z shares capabilities with Sony digital cameras and features Exmor RS for mobile, the world’s first image sensor with High Dynamic Range (HDR) video for smartphones. HDR technology gives clear images against strong backlight, so users can capture razor sharp pictures and videos whatever the conditions.
Xperia Z also includes Battery STAMINA Mode, which can improve the standby time by four times or more* by automatically shutting down battery-draining apps whenever the screen is off and starting them up again when the screen is back on.
Discover, enjoy and share entertainment with Sony’s media applications and One-touch functions
Sony media applications offer a consistent entertainment experience across a range of Sony devices. Preloaded on Xperia Z, the “WALKMAN”, Album and Movies apps enable discovery of online and offline content through a single access point with new ways to enjoy and share that content.
