We had known the release was coming, however it is always nice to see them happen without delay. In short, AT&T has launched the LG Optimus G and Sony Xperia TL smartphones. The handsets are both available on the AT&T website and in retail stores. The LG Optimus G is the more expensive of the two, sitting at $199.99. The Sony Xperia TL, which some may remember as being the James Bond Skyfall phone, is priced at $99.99. Both come with a two-year agreement.
The Optimus G and Xperia TL both have support for the AT&T 4G LTE network, and both are running Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Otherwise, while both are nice in their own respect, the have some differences beyond that. The displays, while close, are not the same size. The Optimus G has a 4.7-inch (1280×768) WXGA True HD IPS Plus and the Xperia TL has a 4.6-inch (1280×720) TFT HD Reality Display.
The Optimus G has a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 2100 mAh battery and an 8 megapixel rear-facing. The Xperia TL has a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 processor with Adreno 225 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 1850 mAh battery and a 13-megapixel rear-facing.
Finally, while we suggest buying a phone for what it has when you purchase it as opposed to what it may get by way of updates, both handsets have been deemed upgradeable to Jelly Bean. Of course, we all know how upgrades go, they often come way after we expect them.
