Following the launch of its Xperia Z and ZL flagship smartphones in the country, Sony India has now decided to bolster its mid-range offerings, starting with the Sony Xperia SP, which the company officially launched in India today. The Xperia SP, which was announced a month ago, is great mid-range alternative to the 2013 flagship devices, and boasts impressive specifications, including -
As you can see, the specifications are certainly impressive for a mid-range device, but unfortunately, features a price point which reflects that, with the Sony Xperia SP officially launched at Rs 27,490 (~$518). It’s not that it is any more expensive than other mid-range offerings from international manufacturers, but with the recent price cuts for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the HTC One X and One X+, it will be a tough sell. That being said, the specifications of the Sony Xperia SP aren’t lacking by much compared to last year’s flagship devices, and is still a good choice at that price range.
Additionally, Sony Xperia SP owners will get free 6-month access to the Sony Music app, which includes unlimited music streaming and a database that features over 15 lakh songs, along with the Sony LIV video streaming app. The black and white color options of the Sony Xperia SP will be available in major retail stores from mid-April. Check out the press release below to find out more, and you can also take a look at the official video of the Xperia SP here -

I was really excited about this phone for the last one month..but the pricing is terrible here. Galaxy S3 is around Rs. 28000 in India..why should we go for this one? with a lower processor and its not even a flagship model?
painfully priced by Sony :-(
Ohh no SONY … what have you done…. :<
Such a beautiful phone priced so ridiculously high …
As a tech lover I know that a nicely build Qualcomm dual core processor will ease through any process than any poorly built cheap quad core in the market….
But consumers go by the number,,,,they see price , no . of cores …
I thought SONY could get hold of the INDIAN market but at this price , I am afraid they can do anything …..
Yesterday , price of HTC ONE X was slashed to Rs 25990 for the 16 GB model ….
Also Samsung Galaxy S3 16 GB model is around the same 27-28k price bracket ..
REALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH SONY…
I was crazily in love with this phone, thus I didnt buy any other phone, even though after seeing xperia Z’s disappointing camera, I was still waiting for this phone hoping that this phone would have a nice camera, but now to hell with this phone, this phone will release with galaxy S4 so obviously the s3 will see a furthur drop in price in may and then I will buy s3…. Sony you will never achieve your dream of being top 3 in the market with such high price, delayed updates, defective phones and most pathetic customer care….. I once loved you, now I hate you…
What a horrible price point….Samsung Galaxy S3 is cheaper than this..it should be near 21-20K…or down by LG F7…priced at 22K
The price is as expected. The problem i see with this phone is that it should have had 2GB or at least 1.5GB of RAM to stand out from old flagships. Hopefully it can make up for the higher price through the fairly big battery.
HTC One X is not a competitor to this phone, the small storage and the superlagging user experience that Tegra 3 processors offers puts the HOX is a lower class. Tegra 3 devices are simply unsuited for webbrowsing and some other tasks, the stuttering and small hangs is far worse than single core A5 phones.
decent phone with very horrible pricing as it is not a flagship phone……and if they are offering at this price point it would be better to go with 1.5gb or 2gb ram and yeaa sony has gone mad with the internal space ie 5.5GB usable, have u gone nuts…..it should have atleast 16gb internal space
