It’s hard to believe that none of the newer phones – even the flagship models – released by Sony this year have Jelly Bean inside. While an upgrade to Android 4.1 for several Xperia handsets has been confirmed by the Japanese conglomerate, rollout dates are still left hanging in the air.

The latest we hear from Sony is that it intends to announce the Jelly Bean update for the Xperia S, the Xperia P, and other Xperias in mid-December. Remember that this isn’t the actual rollout date for the software upgrade, but merely a placeholder date for its announcement. Not too exciting, huh?

To recap, the Xperia U, Go and Sola might get Jelly Bean in December, though it’s looking pretty unlikely now. As for the Xperia T, the Xperia TX, and the Xperia V – the three phones are set to receive Android 4.1 in Q1 2013.
