The Sony QX lenses are easily the coolest smartphone accessory to come out at IFA, and ones we’ve been anticipating for quite some time. The ability to have your current phone suddenly turn into a really nice point-and-shoot is a real boon for serious mobile photographers.
How do they work? Are the pictures you get from either any good? Our Josh Vergara is at IFA, and he tests the QX100 for us. From pairing to shooting, the Sony QX lenses are real dynamos, and the pictures it gives you are pretty phenomenal.
They pair by NFC, which is available on most modern smartphones. Both lenses have a micro SD Card slot, so you don’t need to worry about running out of space on your phone for photos. The frame you use to bolster it to your device is adjustable, but the lenses can work without them — just point and shoot, even at yourself!
The manual controls will sooth the worried minds of serious photogs, and the ease of use and pairing will definitely satiate the more casual shooter. Check out the video below, and let us know what you think!
