Well, that certainly didn’t take long. It was only a couple of days ago that we heard for the first time about the Xperia C650X “Odin”, the supposed next Sony handheld phone, and now we already have some specs.

Of course, these are in no way to be trusted, as they come via a member of the Esato forum, but get this – the specs, along with the “Odin” codename, were revealed by “randomuser” back in June. Now we don’t know exactly how did we miss the story at that time, but it’s never too late to discover something like this, is it?

Everybody ready? Drumrolls, please… The Sony Odin will definitely honor the name of the ruler of Asgard if the rumors prove true, being ready to conquer the tech world with a 5-inch 1080p display and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 processor.

There’s no other phone with such a hardware configuration around, so Sony could really hit it big with Odin. Then again, if the company’s flagship will not come until next year, as that early report claimed, Sony might be undercut by HTC’s DLX, another impressive 5-incher that’s been making the rumor rounds for a while.

The Odin will of course pair the quad-core S4 Pro CPU with 2GB of RAM and feature Sony’s Mobile Bravia Engine, while waterproof and dustproof features might be left out for some reason. That’s not all she wrote though, because Sony is reported to have an even larger 6-incher in the works too, also set to come with a 1080p display, 2 gigs of RAM and an S4 Pro CPU. That kind of “phablet” sounds crazy, but hey, there’s only one small step between Samsung’s 5.5-inch Galaxy Note 2 and a 6-incher, right?

Who’s excited about the 5-inch Odin? How about the 6-incher, is that pushing it too far or it’s just what you’d need?

Finally a quad core from Sony, Would like to see one. I like how sony’s UI is super smooth even on Gingerbread with single core processor. I wish sammy get their touchwiz that smooth. I also love transparency effects in their Ui. Plus Experia S has the one of the BEST design ever on a phone with that transparent bottom bit.

    • loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool super smooth….please that thing lags like fuck! samsung make the smoothest skin. period if you disagree your a sony fantit.

      • Xeltos

I have handled Sony Xperia S, Neo V for long periods of time, and Have a Note. Note has so clunky UI, always had. Became more clunky after ICS update. Even custom launchers lag a lot.
Same thing with Galaxy SL i had. My friends Ace+. Its smooth but not much.

On sony I had very smooth experience. Even the experience with sony tablets was great one. Samsung Note 10.1 is the only tab from Samsung I found that does not stutter. (GS3 does not lag or Note 2 but those are the current most powerful phones sammy has on offer.)

I am just talking through experience. nothing else.

        I’m a samsung fan and I have sgs2 and sgs3, but I still admit that samsung’s skin isn’t even near the smoothest…

        • m only talking about the latest skins, note 2 and s3 and i have the official jellybean update…. its like a iphone UI speed NO lag but bigger better faster and stronger.

          • MasterMuffin

Yea with JB touchwiz is pretty smooth, but it’s still not the smoothest, just little too heavy :( they could make it more lighter and THEN IT WOULD BE AWESOME!

This is so confusing, it is practically impossible to keep track of all these devices Sony is putting out. Didn’t they recently launch a new bunch of Xperia phones and an Xperia tablet?

    • Xeltos

      Lol, I bet.
But samsung launches more than double the devices every year. Thats just frustrating. Last time on some forum i calculated that Samsung has 19 phones running android, officially available/listed on samsung India’s site. I say every manufacturer in Open Handset alliance should be limited to 6 maximum supported handsets (tablets excluded) at one time in market officially. 4 full touchscreen phones ranging from top to bottom tier. and 2 oddball devices like Qwerty devices or oversized devices like note.
That would help to keep fragmentation in check.

      • yes, samsung does have a lot of smartphones on the market but all of it is a different version of the samsung s3. Samsung changes the s3 into smartphones which fit into different needs of different people. E.g. galaxy note 2, galaxy s3 mini.
On the other hand sony dosen’t really have an official flagship devise. It keeps on changing every 2 or 3 months. First i thought it was xperia ion and before i could take a look at it another one came out. I’m not really sure about what modells sony released but im pretty sure samsung got its route sorted then sony

      • aholsteinson

Yeah Samsung is guilty of the same. What with the recent Galaxy S3 Mini and the alleged Galaxy Primer? It dilutes the Galaxy S3 brand name and the brand recognition it currently has. Things like these only show a lack of a coherent vision and also a lack of confidence in their products. They should develop an idea and stick to it.

  • Droidzzzzz

i think it is still on the works… maybe the 6 incher would come out the same time as GNote3.. and the 5 incher would come out same time as Galaxy S4…. lets see whos better

  • Anass Eljondy

Sony Lazy Sony … finally you decided to make a quad core phone

  • Xriz
