We trust you haven’t abandoned your Sony's second-gen Google TV yet, even though Google seems to be doing a good job in that front. Well, maybe not entirely.

If you still have your trusty Sony NSZ-GS7 set-top box, a fine piece of machinery that it is, you’ll be happy to hear that an update that will bring the latest Google TV software to the device is currently being rolled out by Sony.

Alongside the expected performance improvements, the GTV V3 update will come with Google’s Voice Search, PrimeTime Quick Guide and Amazon Instant Video. It’ll also let you enjoy HBO GO. Finally, right?

But wait, seeing that the NSZ-GS7 doesn’t come with a built-in microphone, how are users supposed to do a voice search?  In case you missed it, Sony has released an updated remote for the device that has said mic – though you do have to shell out $50 to get the new voice-activated remote from Sony’s online store.

Back to the update, the official changelog hasn’t been released yet. If you’ve gotten it, feel free to let us know in the comments below.

    Added Amazon Instant Video app
    Improves system stability

Bams, you and Phadroid should look into things more before you write about them.

HBO GO Prime Time and Amazon Instant Video is for the US update, that sucks for the rest of us.

that’s not an hbo go app. what you have (and everyone has) is pretty much just an
            internet shortcut
