Fake or real, these Honami pictures look sexy

Sony Honami i1 leak (1)

Remember the Sony Nexus X? Just in case you’re not up to date with fakes and hoaxes, the “Nexus X” was a clever prank that one graphic artist played on the tech blogosphere in October 2012. Dozens of sites reported on the story, some more enthusiastically than others, until the hoaxer came out to burst our collective bubble.

I prefaced this post with the recount of a hoax just to remind you to take everything that isn’t official information with a grain of salt. The images below were supposedly sent to a small tech site by an anonymous tipster, so precautions apply.

With that said, these four alleged Sony Honami photos look quite believable and, if you ask me, quite sexy.

The photos seem to confirm previous leaks, showing a thin device with a glass back and a metal frame wrapped around its sides.

As a refresher, Honami is the codename of Sony i1, a device that promises to dazzle with a Snapdragon 800 processor and a 20MP camera. The latest gossip is we’ll see the i1 one launched at IFA 2013 Berlin, which will take place in the first week of September.

I’ll leave it to you to decide if these pics are the real deal. Would you like the Honami to look like that?

  • Yama

What’s so f*cling sexy about this? Looks like any xperia modell… Not even special.

    • Shawn

      It somehow.. Just…Looks… Better…

  • najiy91

look at the shadows from each pictures.they seems different.

    • najiy91

from top view shadow to the left, but, from side shadow to the right.both on same position on table(based on table lines)

  • Winston

You really think this is sexy? You’ve obviously never been with our seen a woman. Machines aren’t sexy, never have been, never will be.

    • Why about cyborgs? Seven of 9 was pretty hot.

      • weed

And Andromeda was perfect. Played by Lexa Doig, half Canadian/Filipino.

    • D’Ander McSullivan

Calm yo tits. Here man, have a Snickers.

      • sivkai

        Haha brilliant!

  • Luka Mlinar

Nice tablet you got there :)

  • EliasAlucard

I say fake, since it seems to lack the Xenon flash. Good to have the camera button back though, if it’s real. I don’t understand why Sony omitted that in Xperia Z. Stupid decision.

  • Tamadrummer94

That bottom bezel is so huge…why can’t OEMs figure this stuff out? Sony even made the ZL for christ’s sake.

    • OMGgary

They might be doing it just to annoy you!

    • jumbo3220

to fit the 3000mAh battery in

      • Tamadrummer94

I would’ve rather a device I could use in one hand (smaller bezels) rather than a stretched out, but thinner device.

        • quark squeal

You’re in the minority, friend. I would rather a big battery!

          • joser116

Have you seen Motorola’s new Droid Maxx? It does not have as big of a bezel and is only 8.9 mm thin.

          • arcwindz

Lol, he is not saying he doesn’t like big battery, but rather a thinner bezel with thicker dimension

  • CRiTiCaL_FLuX

Why does the bottom bezel have to be so huge if it uses on-screen keys?

    • Shoal

So that you can hold the phone by one side and one hand in portrait mode.

It’s not very pretty, but it’s not too big a bane, no?

  • Ruz

We all want USB3.0 in our phones… are you listening companies? It wil bring us better speeds and more power for charging.. hope someone does the needful

    • Piyush

yup charging is so slow via usb it takes 4 to 6 hrs to get 100% specially samsung phone.

  • S.H.U.R.O.

What???? these Honami pictures look sexy)))) This is Fucking GARBAGE! Another brick, with a shitty camera (

    • weed

You are in a very small minority on this.

      • S.H.U.R.O.

Because the majority of people, it is the blind idiots who like everything.

  • Jaun Lombard

But looks like the Xperia Z….

    • Victor V.

yep looks just like the xperia z or the xperia ultra. I don’t own either phones though.

  • Cristi13

Hmm, maybe this is something like xperia z+? But seriously not this display again.

  • spade

i don’t like the glass panel on the back….hope i just see it wrong… :/

  • OMGgary

Hope they make a Google Play edition of this. Sony and (some) LG’s are the only ones that can do it right. Sam and HTC ruined their GPE phones with the stupid buttons.

    • sivkai

What was wrong with the Galaxy Nexus? Also I’m willing to bet that HTC would deliver the most premium Nexus.

      • OMGgary

Google Play Edition does not mean Nexus.
I’m talking about the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition and the HTC One Google Play Edition, which are the only GPE phones available at the moment, and they both have physical buttons instead of on screen buttons.

        • sivkai

Oh right, in that case, I completely agree. I hate physical buttons. On screen is the way to go.

          • OMGgary

Absolutely true. I just wish more manufacturers would realise this.

  • Anthony Tran

Y’all sure that’s a glass back? Looks like a film protector to me. It just doesn’t quite look flush to me.

    • OMGgary

I think it probably is glass. It does look like there is a film protector on it, with a pull tab at the lower right corner, but wouldn’t a film protector usually be used with a very glossy back panel material like glass, rather than with something like less glossy such as plastic/polycarbonate, kevlar or aluminium?

      • Anthony Tran

I don’t know about other phones, but for my GNex, I’ve seen plenty of full body films or films for frontand back. They bhave designed ones, but there are also clear ones if you like the look of your phone as is.

        • OMGgary

Yeah, I know the kind of thing you mean, Zagg is one well known brand that makes them. The thing in the corner which looks like a pull tab is the bit that really makes me think it may be just a back panel film.

  • Anthony Tran

Y’all sure that’s a glass back? Looks like a film protector to me. It just doesn’t quite look flush to me.

  • lollicup04

I remember reading about the honami and togari being the most “beautiful” phones that they have ever designed. But it looks like every other phone now a days. This one looks worse than the Xperia Z. So the report was utter bs

  • Mastermind

    Bezel of peace.

  • keenmay

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It looks ugly to me.
