Sony Ericsson did indeed make us wait a long time before bringing the X10 to market after its original announcement. Even then, they were a little behind schedule. When the phone did arrive, it came with Android 1.6. There were hopes and dreams that the long road to market might have been so due to the fact that the device was going to secretly ship with Android 2.0. Alas, this was not to be the case.

However, there is word that the X10 family of devices (including the X10 mini), will update to Android 2.1 in Q4 of this year. By my reconning that means December 2010, just as Android 2.6 comes out, or something.

I like this device from a hardware perspective. If it had have originally released with Android 2.0 and a smoother UI, it would have been a far greater hit, no doubt. Here’s to waiting.
