It’s been a good week for Android updates and here’s another one coming down the pike. Sony Ericsson has just announced that they have begin roll-out of the firs software update for Xperia™ arc and Xperia™ PLAY. Some lucky owners have probably received it already but if you haven’t, Sony Ericsson is planning a wider roll-out slated for the  end of this week or, if some delays happen, in the beginning of next week.

The two biggest features that gets delivered in this update are the jump to Gingerbread 2.3.3 and the recently announced Facebook inside Xperia update. The Android update provides uses with all the fixes and improvements to the system, in accordance with all of the feedback received from users. Here’s a general list of them:

  • Better battery performance
  • More stable software
  • Improved Wi-Fi stability
  • Improved HD Video recording performance (Xperia™ arc)
  • Better touch responsiveness

The Facebook update, on the other hand,  let’s you mess around on the world’s most popular social networking platform at a faster and easier pace. The Facebook inside Xperia  experience workse perfectly with TimeScape and the Facebook for Android app, so no worries about missing your friend’s updates.

The update can be done either directly via WiFi or you can hook it up to your PC for a more stable roll-out. Delays maybe caused by where exactly you’re located: different approvals are needed for different markets and customized kits. So better inquire with your service provider.

How about no, I’ll preorder the FHD N7 for $200 in about 40 days (long 40 days),

But ppl got nerve to talk about RT prices. Too much for an android tab.

Had it come out sooner I might have considered it. I finally went with a Nexus 10 in Mars and I am very happy with my choice.
Sony have shown quite interesting products of late but the must but they must start bringing them faster to market.

Unfortunately the Nexus 10 is not available where I live:-/

I am holding out for the HP Slatebook x2 now that that has been announced. I just wish it would come out sooner than August, but the Sony is clearly a rip off when you compare specs…
