SE Xperia X10

Nearly two weeks ago Sony Ericsson officially launched the microsite and information pack on the forthcoming Xperia X10. The device is to offer a customised build of Android set to run on Android 1.6 with the potential to upgrade to 2.0 OTA providing Sony Ericsson’s customised build is forward compatible with newer versions. We’re inclined to think that it will be.

The X10 really looks to be something special on the surface, but the user experience will be the ultimate and prevailing factor as to whether or not the X10 sells well and whether ‘Rachael’, the user interface SE have developed, really takes off.

At the official Sony Ericsson E-shop website, the X10 is advertised as ‘Expected to Launch’ in February 2010. If you are like me and particularly keen on this device, you may wish to fill out the pre-registration form; I’ve opted in for SE to call me about a Sim-Free device. I’ll let you know if I hear anything. Unfortunately, there is still no word on carriers or exact pricing yet.
