The recently announced Xperia Z is off to a good start when it comes to sales, although Sony isn’t ready to announce millions of shipments yet, and the Xperia ZL will also hit various markets as well. But these aren’t the only new Xperia models you should keep an eye out for this year.

Xperia Blog reports that a Sony C670X is in the works, a 4.8-inch handset that’s supposed to be similar to the Xperia Z (codenamed C660X). The new phone should be launched in mid 2013 and is said to feature a Full HD resolution display (1920 x 1080,) which means it will offer a higher Pixel Per Inch (PPI) density since it’ll sport a slightly smaller display.

Moreover, the handset will pack a 1.8GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 (APQ8064T) processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 13-megapixel camera and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.

From the looks of it, the C670X could very well be considered an HTC One rival, although that may not necessarily be Sony’s intention. Maybe the company is simply making sure it has various screen size options for its potential customers.

The image above provided by the same tipster could show this unannounced C670X model, although it can’t be confirmed at this time. We could be looking at a placeholder image that’s generally used by Sony in some official materials – apparently this one has been used in the Xperia Z setup guide although it’s not showing the Xperia Z.

Are you buying a Sony Android smartphone this year? Which one?

I’d have no problem with spending an arm and a leg for an Xperia Z. But for the amount they charge for it, I’d Expect a screen that has perfect viewing angles. In love with that camera though.

Is it just me, or is the Screen’s Tendencies to wash out as you angle the device a larger problem than most people realize?
My thought is that, if people, in class per se, look over and see my New 1080p Phone, At the Angle they are at the colors and screen would look amess(ish) I’d be MORTIFIED if someone pulled an Iphone and compared viewing angles to me in Public.

…Or does the General Population not know of Viewing angles?

Wouldnt mind to blog for you guys:P

Maybe you could enjoy your phone by yourself and not care about what others think about your screen :-)

Or put an anti spy screen protector and pretend that you hate it when people looking at your screen.

as for myself, I prefer good viewing angle, so I can look at it clearly even when it laying in a table.

Anyway let’s see what will it bring to the table to fight S IV

        AMOLED FTW :)

So they’re already making a better phone than Xperia Z? They’re doing the HTC move…

      • bigshynepo

Obviously the company has started work on their next big phone… why is this such a surprise?
With at least a couple major phone releases a year, cellphones coming after this rumored C670X are already on the drawing board. It’s all about staying fresh to capture the throngs of customers buying phones every quarter.

        • MasterMuffin

But why does it have snapdragon 600? If it’s for the christmas market, why not 800?

          • bigshynepo

Who says it’s for the Christmas market? The article certainly doesn’t. Perhaps it’ll release in some markets as early as June? The Xperia Z was released a month ago in Japan for sale so this phone is likely a midyear followup to the Z, and not a new “true” flagship release. Nothing mainstream (ZTE?) really has been announced in the way of SD800 releases yet to my knowledge and even the xphone is now the first to mention including the Tegra 4i chip..

I think your connotation in the original comment is negative when the development of future phones (again, these are leaked details, not official announcements) is obvious for any company.

            • MasterMuffin

If it’s going to be available in June, that’s just proves the point of my original comment (which was a partial joke if you didn’t get it).

            • bigshynepo

I get that, muffin, but what you are still not getting is that in june, the phone will be a 1/2 year old in some markets and to stay fresh with later-in-the-year releases, they are simply retooling it and releasing it with minor upgrades.
If you were to go shopping in July, wouldn’t you look right past the Xperia Z when it’s sitting next to more powerful Xphones, Galaxies, and a new iPhone around the corner? Sony is just trying to keep up with the market, something every Sony “fan” has been asking/hoping for since they got into the mobile phone game.

              Thanks for the exchange

            • MasterMuffin

Okay, I have to admit that that is true :)

Suspect that it’ll be a combination of Xperia Z & ZL with newer hardware.
Z & ZL both debuted with weird timings, missing the boat for the newer chipsets and seems to suffer from bad battery life.

For Z, while it has a nice design and is waterproof, u can’t help but wonder why they can’t design it in a smaller form factor or bezel like the ZL…

It’s the same for ZL, why can’t it be waterproof? If they combine the wining portions of both phones into a new one with new chipsets that puts it on par with the competition, they might have a winner for 2013.

Xperia Z & ZL already obsolete that fast … yeah, why the hell they follow HTC path ??

      XS > XSL > Acro S / ION > T > V > Z / ZL > C670X

That much flagships for a year … things doesn’t looks good

Another random phone for no reason. Good job Sony.

Sony makes great phones, cant argue with that, but this ridiculous increase in sizes, the ways phones are being pushed into our lives.. I dont quite understand it. I’ve Xperia Mini, great phone for a great price with android ICS. I do all my work and calls with it perfectly well and I dont think phones priced 3 times will give me the 3 times the benefits. Both are android afterall. Im out of the Samsung vs Sony vs Apply vs Nokia wars . I need a decent small phone to watch videos or make calls, thats about it.
