The “Design Your Life” ad campaign for the new Note 3 and Galaxy Gear will focus on software features. Here’s the first “short film” in the campaign.

Everyone agrees that one of the core strengths that allowed Samsung to become the biggest smartphone maker in the world is marketing.

Part of a mammoth marketing push over the last couple of years, a series of smart, relatable, and poignant ads have made the Galaxy brand a household name for millions of people. And Samsung is showing no signs of slowing down.

While previous commercials for the Note series focused on business/enterprise/productivity features (remember the unicorn game ads?), it looks that Samsung is targeting consumers with the first spots in the “Design Your Life” campaign for the Note 3 and the Gear.

Here’s the first 2m:51s spot in the series, titled “Sweet Dreams” (Samsung calls it a “short film”). If you watched the Unpacked Episode 2 event last week, you might remember that the Korean company showed a shortened version of this spot on stage.

A creation of Leo Burnett, the “Design Your Life” campaign will include TV, print, and online videos, focusing on “striking visuals and unique musical experiences”.

The Galaxy Note 3 and its companion device, the Galaxy Gear, will be available starting September 25, with North American carriers to offer it sometime in October.

The “Sweet Dreams” spot is impressive and the production value is obviously very high, but at least for me, Samsung’s previous ads were a bit more memorable. Do you agree?

This is like a trailer for the S4 unpacking event. I still have nightmares of that horrid show.

    • Michael Pitts

Yeah that gave me nightmares as well could not believe Samsung even did that.

They certainly make peculiar videos/advertisements, but their products are good! I’m not a fan of the design of this new note, but the hardware is probably the best you can get right now.

Do you know anyone who is going to buy gear?

Also, that watch looks way too big on her wrist. And, one point…with her two hands, there is no way she could make those puppets dance that way. Unreal.

  • Lin

I like how she uses the phone to record the movie at the theater inconspicuously

Classic Samsung, always promoting piracy. :P

    • prius and iphone

yeah if i wanted to do that i would use a small phone like the iphone. I mean its like prius drivers where a study on 20/20 said they are most likely liars, thieves, and hypocrites…

  • MasterMuffin

I think this ad is bad (and it should feel bad)

  • Nanaoallen

Cool and creepy at the same time. Didn’t know that puppets can dance like that.

Atleast good that these guys have stopped bashing apple and other companies.

Nokia is becoming a culprit an htc also….

Sony has remained to be and act like a gentle men at same time producing grt phones with cool design

  • GasparIPerez

Oh yeah? Well update your old flagship devices running 4.1.2 right now and then I’ll consider not leave you for a Nexus, damn Sammy!
