Samsung releases Android Jelly Bean Source code for Galaxy S2

by: Varun RajDecember 9, 2012

If you are a Samsung Galaxy S2 user waiting for the Android 4.1 update for your device then you might get it soon, although a release date is not available yet. However, the Jelly Bean source code for the GT-I9100_HK Galaxy S2 version has been made available, which means developers can already work on unofficial Android 4.1 ROMs for the handset.

This Galaxy S2 source code brings all the Jelly Bean features you expect as well as the new TouchWiz UI. Thanks to this release, we might see the Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S2 rolling out before the end of this year, at least unofficially.

In case you forgot, the Galaxy S2 is Samsung’s 2011 flagship handset. The device is powered by a 1.2Ghz dual-core A9-Cortex processor and 1GB of RAM which makes it capable of running the more feature-filled and improved version of Android.

If you are interested in downloading the Jelly Bean source code for the Galaxy S2 then you can grab it here.

  • this is only kernel source not the whole firmware so no custom rom will be made of it just a custom kernel. do some research not just copy those imbecyles from sammobile blindly

Yes, and the bit about the TouchWiz UI is wrong.Source code for TouchWiz has never been released and likely never will.

      • not only tw but whole samsung framework is closed :) dialer contact msg gallery anything samsung added is out of reach for community developement/fixing resulting in months delay in bug fixing :)

  • This is where competitors of the current Nexus manufacturer can really shine. But also show how well they actually abide by the license of the Linux kernel, the GPL. Having at least the sources for the kernel means there is some chance of having 3rd party software running on the device.
