Still waiting for Marshmallow? Try this TouchWiz theme on your Galaxy

by: Robert TriggsMarch 15, 2016

Samsung is gradually getting around to updating a selection of its smartphones to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but a number of consumers are still waiting for an update to land in their region or for their carrier to give word about when they’ll get around to releasing it. To help tide you over, there’s a nice looking TouchWiz 6.0 theme to download in the Samsung Theme Store that will at least give you the look of Samsung’s latest software.

Have a search for “TouchWiz 6.0” in the store and you should spot the theme. It does a rather good job at copying much of Samsung’s Marshmallow user interface. With tweaks ranging from the white and blue notification shade to matching up the app color schemes. It certainly doesn’t offer the complete Marshmallow software experience, but at least your Galaxy smartphone can look up to date.

The Theme Store is available on a number of Galaxy branded smartphones running Android Lollipop or newer. Samsung says that the compatibility list includes the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus, S6 Active, Galaxy A8, Galaxy S5 Neo, Galaxy J5, and the Galaxy J7. So why not give the theme a try?

  • saksham

well its been forever so why not

  • Luc Schots

I’ll stick with the Nova Launcher on my Note 3, thank you :-)

  • Oussama Sayém

CyanogenMod 13 on my old s3 is perfect with CM themes :D

  • Cakefish

My work phone, the S6 edge has already got the update. I think pretty much every network has released their MM updates here in UK.

  • AvalancheRyder

TouchWiz theme just sounds funny. Considering people usually try to cover up TW.

  • Daggett Beaver

I’m not waiting for Marshmallow. I still don’t see any compelling advantages, given the way I use my phone. There are leaks and custom Marshmallow ROMs for my Note 4 and I’m not the least bit interested in trying them.

    • scoupdogg

30% better battery life, DAMN smooth animation ( finally i can say on par with ios), now on tap WOOT WOOT!

  • EasyCare

Or just get a Nexus and stop worrying for updates.

    • And Get Lower Brightness.. Slower phone and Lesser features too

      • lemawe

        Slower phone ? lol

        • Vincent

Much slower. That SD 810……gets a little hot and slows to a crawl. The SD 820 has no such issue

          • scoupdogg

well you all are right about that… but totally wrong context, compare nexus 6p to galaxy s6, and Galaxy s7 to which ever nexus is released this year.

          • Vincent

I hear ya…..problem is s7 is here now….i bought the s7 edge and love it! The new nexus will be here in what 5 or 6 more months? Couldnt wait. I also have a droid turbo 2 with the version 2.1 sd 810. When i play games on it slows to a crawl and becomes unusable.

    • Kim Griffiths

…and start worrying about your hardware instead! :-/….Only joking, I know that Nexus are good hardware wise now.

      • scoupdogg

nah, they should have waited for SD 820 or some highend Mediatek processor, SD 808, and 810 are shit.

  • There’s also a Dark theme version of the same one. Guess, you wouldn’t have to wait for Android Nolengur too.

  • justin

Does this mean my j5 will get the marshmallow update?

    • scoupdogg

it will LOOK LIKE it has gotten the update ;)

  • Joel Bartenbach

When they release a theme to get you by for an OS that has been released a long time, it’s time to get a Nexus.

  • first last

    No touchwiz!

  • Alain Lafond

Blah, blah, blah! Where’s Android M for my Note 3?
By the way, it’s my last Samsung phone!

    • Sebastian Nuñez Del Prado

I’m still waiting on my t mobile note 4 too.

    • David Dang

      Note 3 ain’t getting 6.0 lmao

    • Robert Clark

Just grabbed a Nexus 6 from eBay. It is brand new condition for 200 USD. Goodbye sprint and note 5. I am over the flagship addiction. I am happy with Nexus.

      • Robert Clark

BTW. When I got it few days ago the updates came in one by one. Until 6.0.1 lol. Then today a security patch. Wow. I’ve missed Nexus since Nexus 4. Peace.

    • enigmaco

Same here dropping samsung like the load of crap they are. Dueces

    • Kim Griffiths

You’re right about the Note 3, although I’ll be pleasantly surprised if it actually gets Marshmallow.
I thought that we were supposed to be “saving the planet”, so if a devices’ hardware is still good (and the Note 3 still has better specs than some of the devices getting Marshmallow), then it should be eligible for the software upgrade (In my humble opinion).

    Always the same sh—t,

When samsung makes a new mobile, like now the s7 with 6.0.1, they don´t upgrade the older ones because sales. We don´t have to buy a new smarthfone only because of the new operation system, and also We pay hundreds of money to have a good smathfone to get rich these companies. I have a Note 4 and to me this is no an obsolete, only have 1 year and they still selling. It’s a shame how they treat costumers whith these upgrades. And now android Nutella (sh—t os name), is coming. They talk about upgrading ours mobiles before October 2015 and still waiting. And Now you came with this??? Operations system are adaptable, its no so dificult. Stop doing so many models people doesn´t like and then you don´t have so many upgrades to do. Why they don´t make a mobiles for dogs. Already now.
Note 4 it was the last time I buy in samsung, because this always happens, I had s2, s3, s4 and now note 4, always the same. So many money in a few years. Mabe better buy a chinise white model for a few money each year and always have upgrade. the difrence of making photos or other thinks today is not so big. Desapointed 100%
People there are many good phones on market whit best costumer support. Samsung have to learn. they are on top because our money. Try other companys because when they get the new model next year you will have the same problem. PS: older phones we can´t put the themes because they don´t change in the software.
Bla, Bla, hundreds of blas….. and sorry my bad english rsrsrs ;)

I got mine yesterday, so a week after the S7 launch isn’t too bad (S6 Edge +).
I think that they’re working backwards as to which device was released last..which is fair really. I also have a Note 4 waiting, but I’m not expecting that for a couple of Months…Oh and the Tab S too, I’m not stressing about it. I’d rather have a stable, good version of MM, than something that was quickly rushed through to keep irate customers happy.

  • Brandon Powell

I applied this theam in stock touchwiz then switched back over to nova Launcher. Looks great and is calming my frustration that AT&T is dragging it’s feet on the Marshmallow update.

  • I’ve been waiting years, wait few more months is just piece of cake.

    • Kim Griffiths

You have the right attitude Dara.
When you think of all the terrible stuff going on in the world and we’re here moaning about a phone update (I know that isn’t the point, but actually it is really!)
Hope that you get your Marshmallow soon :-)

  • Choda Boy

Themes are not available on my Samsung Note. :-(

  • Kim Griffiths

Actually got MM 6.0.1 yesterday on my S6 Edge + (17th March 2016). Three Network. U.K
They’ve added loads of extra bits of functionality, like scrollable screenshot and the Edge actually makes sense now.
I haven’t had the chance to dig deeply, but it looks great and feels like a different device..much faster too (and I don’t think that they’ve just sped up animations).
Anyway, I hope that everyone else who’s waiting for MM, gets it A.S.A.P.

  • Mathew

This theme is very slow and not very user friendly like the original S7.

  • surfshop

S Planner icon date and clock icon time dont work
