Galaxy S4 charging pad

Samsung has introduced several accessories for the Galaxy S4, the details of which you can read here. One item that we weren’t exactly surprised to see is the wireless charging pad, since we’ve already found out last week that the device will support Qi wireless charging, which is pretty much the most popular standard.

The big question now is whether or not the phone will support the wireless charger out of the box. The answer to that is — it depends.

According to Engadget, who had the chance to test out the Galaxy S4’s wireless charging feature and its pad, the availability will depend on your region and carrier. So it looks like some model will have the feature outright, and some may not support it.

Guess we’ll find out in the coming weeks which carrier will give you the freedom of moving away from the traditional charging method and at what price. Is this something you’d like to get? Let us know in the comments below.

Will we even see it? If I remember, the s3 had one… Or was I just dreaming?

The S III was supposed to have a back cover which makes you able to charge it wirelessly released later as an accessory but it was never made officially.

Why is that even a carrier decision?

It’s just like the Verizon logo on the Note 2 home button. They’re selling it, so they do what they want with it.

It would be nice for Samsung to realize they can tell the carriers what they want. Glad Bell didn’t brand the shit out of my s3, would have been a deal breaker I think.

why is there even a compromise? Thought this was supposed to be the Next Big Thing

Plastic fantastic Samsung peaked last year when S3 molested lil Chinese kids making the phone.

You hate Samsung because you got molested?
