Samsung Introduces the GALAXY S III, the Smartphone
Designed for Humans and Inspired by Nature

    May 3, 2012

    Effortlessly smart and intuitively simple,
Samsung GALAXY S III reveals a new concept of smartphone

London, UK—May 3, 2012—Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, announced today the third generation GALAXY S, the GALAXY S III. Designed for humans and inspired by nature, the GALAXY S III is a smartphone that recognizes your voice, understands your intention, and lets you share a moment instantly and easily.

This sleek and innovative smartphone has the enhanced intelligence to make everyday life easier. With Samsung GALAXY S III, you can view the content like never before on the device’s 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED display. An 8MP camera and a 1.9MP front camera offer users a variety of intelligent camera features and face recognition related options that ensure all moments are captured easily and instantly. Samsung GALAXY S III is powered by Android™ 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, with greatly enhanced usability and practicality to make life easier. Packed with intuitive technology, the GALAXY S III delivers a uniquely personalized mobile experience that refuses to be compromised.

“With the GALAXY S III, Samsung has maximized the consumer benefits by integrating superior hardware with enhanced smartphone usability,” said JK Shin, President and Head of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung. “Designed to be both effortlessly smart and intuitively simple, the GALAXY S III has been created with our human needs and capabilities in mind. What makes me most proud is that it enables one of the most seamless, natural and human-centric mobile experiences, opening up a new horizon that allows you to live a life extraordinary.”
    Introducing Natural Interaction

The GALAXY S III enhances the interaction experience between the device and user. Smart enough to detect your face, voice and motions, the GALAXY S III adapts to the individual user to provide a more convenient and natural experience. With the innovative ‘Smart stay’ feature, the GALAXY S III recognizes how you are using your phone – reading an e-book or browsing the web for instance – by having the front camera identify your eyes; the phone maintains a bright display for continued viewing pleasure.

The GALAXY S III features ‘S Voice,’ the advanced natural language user interface, to listen and respond to your words. In addition to allowing information search and basic device-user communication, S Voice presents powerful functions in regards to device control and commands. When your phone alarm goes off but you need a little extra rest, just tell the GALAXY S III “snooze.” You can also use S Voice to play your favorite songs, turn the volume up or down, send text messages and emails, organize your schedules, or automatically launch the camera and capture a photo.

In addition to recognizing your face and voice, the GALAXY S III understands your motions to offer maximized usability. If you are messaging someone but decide to call them instead, simply lift your phone to your ear and ‘Direct call’ will dial their number. With ‘Smart alert,’ the GALAXY S III will also save you from trouble by catching any missed messages or calls; your phone will vibrate to notify missed statuses when picked up after being idle.
    Easy and Instant Sharing

The Samsung GALAXY S III is more than a personal device that can be enjoyed by one user – it wants you to share and experience smartphone benefits with family and friends, regardless of where you are. With the new ‘S Beam,’ the GALAXY S III expands upon Android™ Beam™, allowing a 1GB movie file to be shared within three minutes and a 10MB music file within two seconds by simply touching another GALAXY S III phone, even without a Wi-Fi or cellular signal. The ‘Buddy photo share’ function also allows photos to be easily and simultaneously shared with all your friends pictured in an image directly from the camera or the photo gallery.

With ‘AllShare Cast’, users can wirelessly connect their GALAXY S III to their television to immediately transfer smartphone content onto a larger display. ‘AllShare Play’ can be also used to instantly share any forms of files between GALAXY S III and your tablet, PC, and televisions regardless of the distance between the devices. Under AllShare Play is also the ‘Group Cast’ feature that allows you to share your screen among multiple friends on the same Wi-Fi network; you can make comments and draw changes at the same time with your co-workers, witnessing real-time sharing on your individual device.
    Human-centric Design with Uncompromised Performance

The GALAXY S III not only presents features with enhanced usability, but also provides an ergonomic and comfortable experience through its human-centric design. Its comfortable grip, gentle curves, and organic form deliver a rich human-centric feel and design. Inspired by nature, its design concept is the flow and movement of nature. The elements of wind, water and light are all evoked in the physical construct of the GALAXY S III. In its essence, the minimal organic design identity is reflected in the smooth and non-linear lines of the device. Available in Pebble Blue and Marble White at launch, Samsung will introduce a variety of additional color options.

With a 4.8” HD Super AMOLED display, the GALAXY S III offers a large and vivid viewing experience. Samsung Mobile’s heritage Super AMOLED display even enhances to HD and 16:9 wider viewing angles. To ensure faster content sharing and connectivity, the GALAXY S III offers Wi-Fi Channel Bonding which doubles the Wi-Fi bandwidth.

The GALAXY S III also sports a range of additional features that boost performance and the overall user experience in entirely new ways. It introduces ‘Pop up play,’ a feature that allows you to play a video anywhere on your screen while simultaneously running other tasks, eliminating the need to close and restart videos when checking new emails or surfing the Web. Its 8MP camera features a zero-lag shutter speed that lets you capture moving objects easily without delay – the image you see is the picture you take. With the ‘Burst shot’ function that instantly captures twenty continuous shots, and the ‘Best photo’ feature that selects the best of eight photographs for you, the GALAXY S III ensures users a more enhanced and memorable camera experience. HD video can be recorded even with the 1.9MP front-facing camera, which you can use to capture a video of yourself. Improved backside illumination further helps to eliminate blur in photos that result from shaking, even under low lights.

Mobile payment is also accessible with the device through advanced Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. The gaming experience is enhanced through ‘Game Hub,’ providing access to numerous social games, while Video Hub brings users high quality TV and movies. Furthermore, Samsung Music Hub will offer a personal music streaming service. Game Hub, Video Hub and Music Hub will be introduced in select countries initially and soon rolled out to global markets.

The Samsung GALAXY S III will be available from the end of May in Europe before rolling out to other markets globally.

        1GB of RAM :)

        • I am not Crazy

You people are crazy and don’t have anything to do but arguing over nothing. If u like apple buy iPhone’ if u dont like iPhone get something else’ and if u don’t like s3 u go et yourself a Nokia 3100 lol

    • Aitch

Now its down to price! The OneX is going for £29 a month on an unlimited data contract – this has to be the same or better…

      Y U NO ON VERIZON?! ;__;

      • http://twitter.com/derecimo Derek Edwards

It is most likely going to be on Verizon…where did you hear otherwise?

    • Cole Raney

So what processor is the LTE version going to have? Is there going to be an HSPA+ version in the U.S.? I don’t need LTE because there is very little LTE coverage in my area.

    • please answer :D

wich one is better the s3 or htc one X

      • guest

personally i would say one x if i had expandable storage. at&t version has only 16gbs of storage with no sd card slot like you have to be kidding me. I have a 32 gb sd card in my galaxy s2 right now plus the 16gb onboard. HTC had a winner, but they gave it a complete Achilles heel. So in conclusion, buy the s3, its just as good a phone and you wont be limited to a pitiful amount of storage.

      Very, very disappointing :(

    • help

HTC ONE X OR SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 need help plz

      • Cole Raney

I’d say Samsung Galaxy S3. It has tons of nice features, and will probably perform better.

        • help

so its better deal to buy the galaxy s3 cuz of the features but what about the processor

          • Cole Raney

Exynos processors tend to perform better than other processors. So it should be good. Either device is a nice one though. I’d say look at the UIs (Sense 4.0 on the One X and Touchwiz Nature UX on the S3) and see which one you like better.

            • help

oh oki thanks for ur help :D think it will be galaxy s3

    • Jimmy2027

the design looks like some generic messaging phones…. not impressive.

    • Connect2connect

looks like the t989 of t mobile :D

    • Jimmy2027

camera is not even 12MP as leaked…

      • Microshrimp

There’s way more to a good camera than the number of megapixels unless you’re making big printouts or doing a lot of cropping.

      • Cole Raney

You don’t need 12MP. Being 12MP wouldn’t automatically make it better than an 8MP camera. 8MP is plenty for a smartphone. You want better, then get a nice camera. There aren’t meant for professional level quality.

        • 1ZW0W21503

          I GET YOU ROTARY PHONE!

      • Too_sxxxy

if you want a 12MP camera then dont buy this phone. Get yourself an SLR.

        • Death SATAN

good point…if you want to take photos buy a camera, dahhhh

          • http://profiles.google.com/hunter.l.cook Hunter Cook

One of my photojournalist friends has a line he’s really fond of:

“What’s the best camera? The one you have with you.”

I have a digital camera. Somehow I find I take far more pictures with my phone. Go figure…the phone is always in my pocket, and the camera isn’t. So the quality of a phone’s camera is important to me and most other users, regardless of whether we also own dedicated digital cameras.

Note that I’m not disappointed that the GS3 isn’t coming with 12MP. As many others have said there’s more to quality than resolution, and 8MP is plenty of the latter. I just wanted to point out that “buy an SLR” is not an acceptable answer to gripes about phone cameras. Unless you meant to say “buy an SLR and carry it everywhere you go,” in which case my response is “no.”

      • blueseye

if u know much about camera and image processing, 8mp is quiet perfect for smart phone,if u using DSLR actually, 6mp is freaking good for normal use and normal size printing.unless u’re intend to make a banner with your photo.higher mp size just increase your storage usage.

      • EndlessDimesack

who takes 12mp quality photos with a smartphone?

    • cj

Absolutely disappointed with the looks of this phone!!! Massive mistake not making it in black, as blue looks really cheap, with no class. Also the massive rounded edges are a huge turn off. I definitely won’t be buying it.

      • GINO

        ARE YOU BLIND?

      • Gsgs

You must not know anything about phones. I suggest talking to ANYONE on the street so you could learn from them.

        • batmobil

She was expressing her design taste, not knowledge. I understand women are into design more than functionality though, for me it’s the other way around.

          • LALAGOO

as a woman.. I’d say MEN are more in to visual.. But personally I’m wanting to get the most purpose for my dollars buddy!!!!!!!!!

      • Gdgdhdh

im agree w cj. im the one that also disappointed w tje new s3 round shaped. And theres nothing spectaculer specs comes out w s3. 1 star only for s3!

there is still pretty much better w samsung Note or S2. i got Note already.

        • Jengs99

          retard

        • Desperados3

your just saying hat because you already buy a note where you have a 2nd though now why the s3 comes out just now….maybe you are now shouting why o why o why…ahahaha stupid ass…seel that note then buy an s3…that your only option.

      • hate image driven people

Dumb ass. How can you tell if the NEW Samsung is any good. Its only been out……..oh that’s right…. IT’S NOT OUT YET!!!!!!!! HOW CAN YOU COMPARE IT ON WHAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE JUST TELLING YOU. OR BY WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!!!! YOU MUST BE A GIRL REALLY INTO YOURSELF

        • apple and samsung user

This one is right!Use it before you can judge which one is better. LOL!

          • (crAP)PLE

i have. i have used both the iphone is garbage. the s3′s hardware is equivalent of a computer(thats good) the iphone is an apple product. (thats not good)

      • Bby Twitty

        • Ainom Anom

Stupid Apple Fanboy, what are you doing on an android site… Your a waste of bandwidth on this site…

        • AppleFUD

I think one thing everyone can agree on is that the iphone has NEVER been a “really good phone”

You can argue its merits as a smartphone but consistently is has sucked as a phone.

          • Kieran

The only thing going for the iPhone is the app store, and the android store is catching up now

        • Meta4

i dont think i can live with a phone that has as many restrictions as an i phone… i would diiie if i couldn’t customize my phone the way i wanted to… ANDROID FOR LIFE!!!

      • ihateapple

It’s about time someone comes out with something better than the iPhone…all you Apple boys and girls are hating on Samsung. Oh, don’t forget you are all locked into apples restrictions..ha, ha, ha.

    • amaya

who knows if this is better than s2

      • http://www.AndroidAuthority.com/ Darcy Alexander LaCouvee

Spec wise, it is a lot better than the original S2 in virtually every department. It is also a bit taller. We’ve got tons of great hands on comparisons coming in the next few hours. Stay tuned!

    • Dewed

Not as good as the leaked specs. But I still want one. Waiting to hear about the price in the US

    • Chelseatheresa

You guys are not critics so just stfu already people are still going to buy this phone with or without your rude comments! Gah there’s no satisfying people now a days you should just be lucky we have smart phones!

    • ringsgeek

      WANT. OMG. WANT.

    • MrAndyH

Yeah, I base my phone purchases of whether or not it has rounded edges or not, especially only if it has a 178mp camera!! Dont I sound JUST like every iTool buyer in the world. Every friend of mine that saw what my Galaxy S2 (with rounded edges) can do they all slump back in their chairs and clutch their iPhone waiting for it to connect….
      #Nuffsaid

      • ant

Sorry but your rounded skyrocket still isn’t as good as the i9100 or i777. The skyrockets processor is garbage compared to the exynos in the i9100 or i777. I guess having lte is worth having a phone with a crappy processor

    • NN

You have no idea how disappointing this is. The processor, the battery life, the camera (the 12mp seemed to be the only 100% sure rumor), the physical buttons, the design… The display is a good thing, but is not enough to make this any less disappointing… Why, Samsung, why?!
PS: Don’t comment “you don’t need more of that” or “it’s not that bad” etc. From all the rumors and leaks I read for almost a whole year this should have been mind blowing, what it is now is just one normal step after the galaxy s2…

      • MrRees

Excuse me but, whose fault is it really for buying into rumors? Samsung made no promises about those things. People just made it up. Its like getting upset because you had imagined a blind date would end up being a famous super model, but instead, you ended up meeting a realistic human being that there is nothing wrong with.

Its your expectations that let you down.

    • TheLiberalEater

This WOULD have be my next phone if they didn’t make it the size of a laptop. How big is too big? This is too big. They were “This close” to having a perfect phone. Now waiting on Sony to come through with the ION.

      • http://twitter.com/Eliminator55 Cameron

Spot on. I was disheartened when the rumors of the screen size were confirmed yesterday. It’s nearly as big as the Note.

      • AppleFUD

your laptop must be tiny and you must have tiny baby hands. . .

it’s about the right size. ~5″ screen is about right for a smartphone, otherwise get a feature flip phone.

        • TheLiberalEater

Seriously, you want to hold a flat screen TV up to your head? go right ahead. I’m 6’4″ and have huge hands and the phone is still too big.

          • Roland the Rat

I’m a 5 foot 1 male and the Note isn’t too big for me to use. Yes I use it two handed but I’ve always used phones two handed. Why? Because it was always faster to type that way. You also hold hand held consoles that way – I’ve been used to it since I was a kid with the Gameboy onwards.

And really? a Flat screen TV? Overeact much? Bit of a difference between 4.8″ and the average HD TV which is over 32″

            • AppleFUD

              Couldn’t have rebutted better!

    • joey

I already have a buyer for my s2, cant wait for it ro come to Sprint US, bye bye iphone

    • S44gs_p

Question of all questions: does it have gorilla glass?

its has Corning Gorilla Glass 2

      • 1ZW0W215

NO, BUT IF YOU BUY IT IT WILL HAVE GORILLA OWNER..

    • Nebster173

What’s the limit for the SD card expansion? Can I, for example, get the 64gb version and add another 64gb sd card or 32gb sd card to it? Or will I face problems doing so?

      • Cole Raney

I think it allows for a maximum of 32 GB sd card. Which, if you get the 64 GB version, would allow for 96 GB of storage. That is a lot.

        • http://www.facebook.com/william.c.pattersoniii William C Patterson III

it supports up to a 64 GB micro SD card, that makes it a total possible memory of 128 GB on freaking phone

          • Cole Raney

Wow, I guess I was mistaken. Even better. Assuming that the 64 GB is priced well.

            • Roland the Rat

Even if its priced in the UK to be the same prices as the iPhone 4s its still a better phone.

    • Almosthome

Must admit I’m disappointed no 12MP camera, but I belive it has proper xenon flash and takes low light pictures so that makes up for it, plus instant launch and shoot. Bigger screen battery life and all round faster operation. Throw in the cool wireless sharing and free 50 GB cloud: yep, a clear upgrade to my s2 which I typing on. Couple that to Telstra’s 4G network: clear winner.:-)

      • Cole Raney

Why were you disappointed it didn’t have a 12MP camera? What do you need that many megapixels for? 8MP is more than enough. There are plenty of other areas they could work on to make a huge difference in the quality of the pictures. More Megapixels is only useful when you are doing a lot of cropping or printing out huge images.

    • Incredible

HTC One X is a way better phone. I am on verizon and was hoping this phone would come out and ease my pain that Verizon wasnt getting the One X but this thing looks horrible. All the Hype and what a let down. Now I just want Verizon to get the One X somehow!!!! What a let down Samsung…………….

YOU MUST BE A GIRL REALLY INTO YOURSELF.

        • AndroidBrian

Your an idiot “hate image”. You can tell a lot from looking at a phone. If they don’t like the way it looks they don’t like they way it looks. You don’t need to hold it in your hand to confirm that its ugly.

That being said all of its variants can (will) look different than the international version. But spec wise its pretty damn identical to HTC one X. Both have there faults. Gs3 has SD card slot and better battery. One X has the better display and overall design including Sense over TouchWiz. You could say HTC is better than the gs3 if you don’t mind its faults. Its there opinion.

I’m sure most people know what they like and don’t like before they even get there hands on it. (You can watch hands on video dude!) My last phones were gs2 and now galaxy nexus and I bought them before ever using them. So stfu.

        • Cvs_driver667

Two words. DE CAFF. ..u seem a little uptight about a freakin phone.

      • Roland the Rat

As said before – how is a phone with a built in battery, bog standard LCD display and no expandable memory better?

    • Chrishd32

Don’t like the way its constructed. I love the expandable memory of the device but I think I’m going to go for the HTC ONE X this time around.

      • Roland the Rat

Dude the HTC One X is crap.. HTC might make good phone bodies but the X is one of the stupidest phone designs ever.. A built in battery, a bog standard LCD display and NO expandable memory slot! Yeah, your welcome to it.

All the mobile phone companies are falling into the same mistake the computer industry fell into back in the mid to late 1990s. Oooh everyone wants faster chips! No, I’m happy with 1.4-1.6 GHz I want more RAM – Androids OS and the apps we run are really great at NOT turning off when we close them down – so more RAM would be much better than more speed. HTC seem stuck with using less than 1Gb for most of their phones – I think the One X is one of the 1st they’ve done with 1Gb of RAM installed. I wouldn’t touch it with a bargepole though.

        • Markedward_samaniego

More RAM?? Are you stupid? Maybe you don’t know how the electronic works, that’s why you want more RAM in your dumb ass phone. Computers and Android Phones are almost the same, because both of them are relying on there Processors not in RAM. Processors are the most important part, that’s why your applications run smooth and fast like a computer. Tanga tanga ka kasi, wala ka alam sa elctronics… ganyan din ang sagot ko noon na wala pa ko alam sa computers.

          • BOBOKAKALAMOMAGALINGKA

ikaw ang tanga markedward.. d mo naintindihan cnasbe ni roland. you dont need ultra fast speed when it comes to cp.. ram tlga dapat.. bobo ka.. more ram more applications you can use.. bobo!

    • Mahd81

Diffenetly would prefer ONE X. HTC has always built the.best phones.

      • Veil Stige

one x downside = lcd screen + 1.5 ghz made by nvidia. definitely won’t last a day for it’s battery. and probably not even half a day for heavy users.

      • kucingedan

        HTC sucks!!!

    • Chris

Whilst it doesn’t boast all the features rumoured, still looks to be a very nice piece of kit. I can’t say I buy into the new software features but the only reason the S2 was top of the class was because of it’s unrivalled benchmarks and performance.

The real question is whether this one can better it’s predecessor in practice.

    • Palwindergill22

      VERY DISAPPOINTING

    • Palwindergill22

SAMSUNG GALAXY S2 SKYROCKET’S SHAPE IS WAY BETTER THAN ITS SHAPE. :( WAITED SO LONG FOR THIS BUT I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH ITS SHAPE.

    • WOW

Wow…. What a terrible job they have done. I’m going with the iphone

      • http://www.facebook.com/toro770 Greg Patrick Bes Snider

oh no android friends, we just lost another irrational shopper! darnet..

      • AppleFUD

Pretty sure you have never had an Android device and have many apple devices and will continue to due so regardless of anything other than the logo on the device. . .

do you seriously think readers will think that your comment is anything other than apple FUD?

    • Bachinphx

Doesn’t look much different than any of their other stuff. Sure wish that the HTC One X was coming to Verizon. That would be the ideal situation.

    • Robertrivera909

I think iam just going to hang on to my epic gs2

    • Pat Thon

I totally love the look of this phone… blue color is awesome.. can’t wait to buy this.. switching from Iphone to Samsung…finally a superphone!!

    • Silent_slex

      Still prefer s2

    • http://www.facebook.com/cshdw Hansen Dw

how’s the battery? any improvement from s2?

      • http://www.AndroidAuthority.com/ Darcy Alexander LaCouvee

The battery in the S2 is a 1650mAh battery, whereas in the S3, it’s 2100mAh. Of course, the screen is quite a bit larger, but the 2050mAh of battery is a quite a bit bigger than the S2.

        S3 = 4.8 inch display, 1280×720 with 1.4Ghz Quad Core and a 2100 mAh battery
        S2= 4.3 inch display, 800×480, with a 1.2Ghz Dual Core with a 1650 mAh battery

Hope that helps! Also, it’s likely there will be a price drop on the S2 when the S3 goes on sale too!

    • Bllloooppppppp

What the freak is wrong with the design? Seriously? I think people got so use to the rectangler/square shape they forgot about the curves? Which aren’t “ugly”, looks like a pretty smooth, slick, device to me, I mean at least they didn’t release the same design over and over again? There beginning different. Come on. Really you people. What exactly are you are really disappointed about? I really didn’t expect samsung to just jump from an 8 to 12 megapixel camera, not to mention, what do you even need an 12 MP on a phone, if you really needed that then just buy an SRL one. People think MP make such a big difference just cause its higher and its not, large MP are only really good for cropping, and blowing up pictures. Other else its kind of an lens thing, justcause 12 is higher then 8 doesn’t automatically make it better then the lower one. It has an Exynos QUAD core, come on exyons is usually one of the better processors, and I think I read somewhere that the battery might not be enough because its an quad, if I’m not mistaken, I do believe that quad cores have the ability to turn some off when there not in use (don’t quote me on that haha) so so 2100 sound be just, if not more then enough. In opinion, the specs are just awesome to me. No I’m not a samsung “fanboy” I’ve had everything from htc, nokia, apple, you name it. I just don’t really see why people are so “disappointed” as if you want the phone to fly you to work? especially since you haven’t even held it yet, or had it, experienced it., or anything. it’s funny I seen somewhere “this is like the iphone 4 to 4s” not…. And plus, I really doubt the design is going to stay the same when it reaches the U.S, its probably going to change dramatically, it usually does anywho. Just my little out take on this, but hey, no ones forcing you to buy, or like they phone. ;) I don’t think it was an let down, it was just overhyped by media, like everything else… My thoughts.

      • AppleFUD

        The curves aren’t the problem.

The home button and that ugly ass metal band that makes it look like the 3GS are the problem. Get rid of both of those items and use a solid color for the entire phone and it would look very slick, as it does now it looks cheap and way too much like the 3GS which is an ugly design.

    • sethuram

as expected battery frowned us otherwise its a fabulous gadget for one to have must…great work guys…keep it up

    • sara

personally i think 4.8 inch is way too big, 4.6 inch screen would’ve been perfect. disappointed not a 12mp camera (i have a feeling apple will be the first for a 12mp camera on the iphone 5). wanted a samoled HD plus screen since it’s better. it’s more tapered than i thought it would be.

      • Bachinphx

The difference between 4.6″ and 4.8″ is so negligable that you probably wouldn’t even notice. If you want a true 12mp CAMERA, then go buy a CAMERA. Everyone gets so caught up in megapixels that they forget about lens quality, etc. It’s so much more than just basic numbers if you don’t know what you are looking at.

      • Devon

I think you need to learn a couple things. First off the HTC Titan II already has a 16mp camera and the Sony Xperia Ion has a 12mp. 2nd Megapixels past 8 aren’t needed unless you blow up the pictures to huge. 3rd you probably wouldn’t even be able to tell the difference between a regular samoled HD and an HD plus unless using a microscope. Please do some research before you talk.

        • http://www.facebook.com/toro770 Greg Patrick Bes Snider

Not to mention the 41Mp on the nokia

    • Christos

In my opinion the only disappointing spec is the pentile instead of RGB display. In other words not being HD Super Amoled Plus. Its only HD Super Amoled. Ofcourse on hight resolutions its OK to use pentile.

I also i dont know if the 1GB of RAM is not enough. We should wait for the phone to come out to see.

The rest specs rock!! And one thing i am really excited is the way they adjust the software to make life easier.

      Surely my next smartphone!!

    • AndroidBrian

This phone is a beast.. Was it groundbreaking? No. Is it the best phone on the market when it launches.. IMO yes. With HTC lack of SD support and crappy battery that u can’t REMOVE galaxy has the small edge. People make this big deal about pentile displays being crappy and that’s just not the case at this rez. Galaxy nexus has a great display.

If I was with sprint I probably wouldn’t buy this phone. But I’m not so I will.

At this point you’re just paying for the brand..
And in that case..(It sounds cliche’ it’s just My own prospective.. so don’t judge) I’ll still pick Iphone4s. For now.. ;)

      S3 HTC One X

      Design – 2 4
      Features – 4 4
      Style – 2 4
      Over All 3 4

      Strange.. But True.

waa waa the shape sucks, drop dead, nice quad zero lag multitasking just stick w ure 3.5 impossible to.text phone and stfu save ure dual core comments for apple threads and admire that there is something good as well as different i dont use apple so should i go.to.hell f trolls everywhere i go.

    • Paparoacha

disappointing…. no major change except the screen…how long will you ride on the screen size…

    • Mg

At first the rounded design looked crap but with blue color and its ceramic texture I think it makes a great combination

    • Juan du Toit

looks like a bar of soap, why would they not try and compete with a decent battery? Motorola MAXX all the way!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Muhammad-Faiz/1285154283 Muhammad Faiz

Actually, after some thought, the white version looks like a hybrid of the S2 and the One X. But still, the most disappointing thing is the screen. I was really expecting the best screen, Super Amoled Plus =(

    • Hassan

I’d take The optimus 4x HD instead of this. Battery for Optimus 4X: 2150 MAh S3: 2100 MAh. Processor: Optimus 4X: 1.5 GHZ Quad Core S3: 1.4 GHZ Quad Core.

      • Cole Raney

It’s likely the exynos processor will perform better and consume less power though.

    • Jonegeek

Hey! Would it be possible to update the screen to the Plus version? What you people think about that?

      • http://www.facebook.com/toro770 Greg Patrick Bes Snider

yea just plug in your firewire cable and update it to os x in the process

    • Omar

If you think this phone is disappointing, then you deserve a nokia 3310 xD

    • Crusty

Galaxy S2 was fantastic and I’m sure this will be even better… I have an S2 and wish it was a little smaller in height and width by trimming more off the bezel..unfortunatly the trend to give bigger screens is pushing the dimensions of the phone more and more..sadly now this has just gone too far for me. One handed texting for anyone smaller than King Kong is a nightmare and you can forget about comfortably fitting it in your jean pocket.

Reckon I’ll stick with my S2 and hope they bring out an S3 mini

      • http://twitter.com/Eliminator55 Cameron

I couldn’t agree more. They have taken this way too far. 4.3″, which is what the SII had on some US variants is just about right. Unless you have massive hands and really long fingers, 4.8″ is ridiculous. They are also going in the wrong direction with all this gimmicky stuff like eye tracking. Stuff like this is useless for real power users. I can see that annoying me to no end. Anyways. Greatly disappointed. They alienate a huge potential market for offering just only one variant. I can’t see too many American females, who normally have pretty small hands, ever using this.

        • Greg_burns

Yeah eye tracking is nonsense…not sure why they assume everyone who craves top specs also wants a bigger screen. I saw someone on the train using the samsung note to make calls…honestly looked ridiculous. At first I thought he was holding up a tablet pc to his face.

          • Roland the Rat

Dude I’m 5 foot 1 and have a Galaxy Note, it doesn’t look stupid holding it to my ear to make a call. Its still not as big as the old brick phones were and those WERE stupid looking when being used.

The Galaxy Note is an ACE phone – only problem mine has is probably more to do with Android being a bit poor – some of my widgets randomly stop working properly. Even with a chunky ass 5200 mAh battery installed (which weighs more than the Note) it does everything the iPhone does and does it better.

    • archlord

nth special lol, LG alr came out with the quad core. soon this phone will be outdated.. like very soon

      • Cole Raney

Umm, no, it won’t be outdated.

    • Red

A beautiful looking phone with impressive specs. Most slated Samsung when the Note was launched. a few months later many are captivated by the phablet. I think it will be the same with this phone. Too many mouthing off without having tried the phone……

    • Honmy23

Super Spec for inelegant Casing. Better go those monies into charity !!!

      • Alexandre Xavier

        haha

    • http://www.emmanuelchenze.com/ Emmanuel Chenze

I have really liked this phone. That I can simply look up a contact to text then change my mind and decide to call and the phone simply does that when I draw it closer to my ear is amazing. Here is the true competitor of the iPhone 4S.

    • abutey

iPhone 4s is the best ever. android sucks..

    • Vishal Sharma

Also compare with LG Optimus. LG optimus is more sleek then galaxy SIII.

    • Sunny_sss

i was a fan on samsung.i had samsung galxy s2 then i purchased iphone4s.i compared both of the phones.i found out that processor doesnt,t matter as samsung s2 took more time to open mails and web pages than iphone 4s.samsung was better in everything else like camera is excellent ,very fast in tasks but iphone had better web speed and also better screen than s2.
iphone4s siri is use less for indian accent.and its camera is poor .batty is worst.but processing power and web speed is excelent.
i had battery issue with s2 same 12 hrs battery backup as with iphone4s.but is got rectified when i formatted my phone and memory card on s2.
i am planning again to buy s3…after reading all these reviews…hope samsung stands well to all its claims.

    • Siorizzo81

I don’t know why the use of plastic on the phone. They couldn’t use different material like aluminum or something and the display is pentile technology equals failure. That’s just my opinion!!

      • Roland the Rat

Maybe because the plastic body actually has more shock protection over aluminium? When you consider how thin the phone and tablet bodies are plastic is actually a much more resilient material – which is why modern car bumpers are made of plastic. I was worried about buying my Galaxy Note because it was made out of plastic til I saw you could bend the back cover into a tube without it breaking and that it was more robust in a drop test than the iPhone 4S (vids on youtube)

    • Ashu

luks beautiful, d curves r finally here, gorgeous screen, massive battery
i wud easily switch my iphone 4s with dis lovely lukin phone . . .
dnt know when its gonna be in market nw . .

    • Rahil Sharma18

Just wait and see what iphone 5 will do…..It’ll change the world of smartphones forever….
Dont bother buying android devices, iphone 5 will change the world of smartphones once again…..
I used Galaxy Note,S2,Symbian Devices,Lumia 800,HTC Devices,Galaxy Tabs,Iphones and Ipads and can say that idevices are just and just awesome…
Wait and watch what iphone 5 will do….
If you buy these devices this time, you’ll feel very bad when iphone 5 will do wonders…

    • BluBird

At first, I was disappointed with the design of the device
but the more I look at it, it just gets better than the first impression.

Most phone companies are following the rectangular shape with small round edges which I believe was first well refined/popularized by iPhone 4 and GS2 devices and once everyone starts doing the same, it gets old and tired rather quickly.

I think that’s why Samsung chose such controversial yet distinct shape because they realize the above trend.

Personally, the design feels natural the more I look at it and I expect it’d look better in person since every hands on reviewers don’t seem to complain so much about the design…

    • Sharik_ansari

      Shariq Ansari
It not only disappoints on design but also at camera front to add to that it only has 306 ppi density on 4.8 inch display whereas Sony xperia s has 342 ppi density on 4.3 inch display and also has better camera at 12 megapixels as compared to 8 megapixels of galaxy s3, though it has added some cool new features it missed on the basic feature.
And to those people who say there is no need for 12 megapixels camera, to them my answer is then there is no new of quad core processor as ICS was designed for dual core processor, so the power of quad core processor is only gonna eat up your battery.

    • Starburst76

The specs are for sure top notch :) , however it has one big problem ADROID! Stability power and data hungry, to be honest IMHO becoming dated. When compared to windows mobile it really start feeling old. One other comment, people are so crazy about quad core, RAM and other specs, truth is people should look at the day to day performance and usability of any device, what’s the point of having all the power in the world and the phone doesn’t last more than 8 hours? Or it is full of security issues? .
Regarding design ? What can I say, I don’t think Samsung has ever made any interesting design to date, materials feel cheap designs are just standard nothing special or imaginative, on the other hand I phone managed to look different and use high quality material, and Nokia pushed the bar with Lumia and HTC still better than Samsung. I am talking from experience not from what people say I have used these devices the S2, iPhone, HTC, Nokia Lumia 900 , my daily phone now is the Lumia.

      • Roland the Rat

RAM is highly important to a mobile phone. Because every app you have running in the background like Facebook, Twitter, your email accounts etc etc eat up some of it.

Its about time we actually started seeing phones with 2Gb of RAM rather than ever increasing speeds. Similarly, they need to improve the overall speed of the components and the data rates of the motherboards. A lot of these modern smartphones may have better specs than most peoples old Pentium set ups but it feels like going back and using them because they feel so sluggish and unresponsive.

    • Sugu

i like this phone very super and attractive

      • salmankhan sharukhan

are you blind to comparing to other smart phone

    • Exchameleonz

for all! This is a new product that is still a baby! we do not know the advantages and disadvantages of products for the current s3. is it true batrey s3 has a longer durability with full application in another product appeal? then how about the application? to the camera it still takes 3.3 seconds to capture an image, we still do not know exactly what will happen a week later, a month or even after 3 months. however, this phone still includes familiar than the iphone. development of technology to rival the iphone samsung still less wear, but s3 itself was designed for more advanced than the iPhone, but in reality? only slightly! s2 and s3 samsung need to compete with the iphone, which means that once created iphone directly affect the other competitors to quickly improve itself, and of course make them like panic. to personally, I prefer the iphone than others. HTC to another may be better, or much higher quality nokia, samsung, or even can be said for the present perfect (I’m not talking about s3 in this case to perfection). My advice is appropriate to your needs, not too much but also not too far behind the technology. select according to your character, your daily life, matches your job, and of course useful also for your family. Do not you obey your ego that will trap your own ^. ^

It has nothing to do with the camera, the colour or the performance.. It’s just too bloody big

DEAR all iphone users, dont wana disappoint u much, but iphone uses samsung hardware. so there is no way is gonna be better the samsung phones specially the S series.

      Galaxy nexus is more appealing.

Anyone turned off by the larger screen. I was just getting comfortable with the 4.3 screen and then they refreshed the s2 with 4.5, and now the s3 has 4.8. When did manuf stop thinking about how we use these phones, pulling them out of pockets that they must fit in. I’m not a skinny jean guy, but with 4 ankle biters at home, I have to be able to crouch, kneel, and squat down. The only good thing the s3 has done is to make the previously large 4.5 screen of the s2 look modest. Maybe I need to start looking at the Galaxy note and the s3 will look smaller.

the comments from the Apple army make me laugh if you are such fanatics remember the original iPhone with its rounded back
im a Apple user through and through but I’m going to get the samsung due to apple dragging there heels and adding quirky bit to a phone that was good enough to wait for the 5 4′s why ??

This cj is idiot…i m buying it

The samsung galaxy S2 was a great phone with 1 fault and that was the apps running in the background which consumed an awfull lot of data if you werent using the phone. If the s3 has they issues fixed then it should be a great phone aswell. DONT LIKE THE ROUNDED EDGES THOUGH

I’ve been waiting for a powerhouse android phone that is reasonably sized. Looks like I will still be waiting……that thing is enormous! Sorry, I am just still in the camp of people who value mobility in my mobile device….imagine that.

u dumbo android fans who kno nuthing abt iphone, just install cydia on ur iphone, u can do wayyy more with an iphone than with an android, but the reason i went for apple is bcz its reliable, many ppl told me how their s2 got burnt, i didnt want to burn my money, u can b sure nothing will happen to an iphone.. th thing that pulled me towards galaxy was its display and screen size, but there’s no point ov all that if ur phone ends up getting burnt so i went fr th iphone.. n idiots dnt call me an apple fanboy, i owned neither befr i got th iphone, i alwayz had nokia, i dnt care abt brand, just want most bang fr my buck

    • Android vs IOS

Funny all talking about this phone, and QUAD and all that, the US version will use the same dual core 1.5mhz use on the US version of the NOTE. As allways the phones that come to the US are degrated as request of the carriers so they can sell it at th same prices as the international versions and make more money. Clear example of that is the Galaxy Note international and the US version, the international uses a 1.4mhz dual core CPU made by samsung, the US version uses a 1.5mhz dual core cpu made by someone else, but somehow the 1.4 samsung one is faster acording to the benchmarks.
Ase per design, well Samsung is trying a new design to bring other markets in, be sure they wil be more colors for the diffrent taste out there.
