Galaxy S3 Image, Specifications, Release Date: Supposed Leak

What a rollercoaster! After days of furious speculations, today we’ve got two huge pieces of news concerning the Samsung Galaxy 3. First, Samsung’s VP for China told the press that the Galaxy S3 launch event may come in April, although it was originally planned for May.

Now, we have even bigger news – a leaked image originating from Dutch mobile blog GSMHelpdesk.nl shows a supposed Galaxy S3 that is very similar to the device shown in the leak we saw last Saturday. Moreover, GSMHelpdesk claims that the trusted source that supplied the image has also provided them with the full specs of the Samsung Galaxy S3.

Needless to say, the two renders clearly represent the same device, although there are a few differences between them. First, the big rocker you can see on the left side of the first phone and the camera shutter button are, at first glance, missing from today’s leaked image. But, again, some leveling in Photoshop reveals that the rocker is present in the second image as well. Also, there are a few pixels present in the area where the camera button should be, although we can’t tell if that’s really the button or just some artifact.

The second apparent difference between the two leaks is the rendered screen image. While today’s image shows the same launch information like the image from Reddit (May 22, in London), there are a few notable differences. First, today’s leak shows a Gingerbread-like status bar and only four icons in the lower bar.

Second, the scheduled time for the Unpacked event differ: the Reddit leak says 6-7 PM, while GSMHelpdesk’s leak says 7-8 PM. Not a big difference and we are not sure what to make of it. Probably, the two images were created at different times, with today’s image (with its Gingerbread design cues) being presumably older.

As The Verge notes, the image used in today’s leaked render was used in previous Samsung press shots, which may or may not mean that the image is a fake. After all, Samsung designers may have just thrown a quick mockup, reusing some older official images.

GSMHelpdesk also claims that it received trusted information concerning the full specs of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3.

In short, most of the presumed specifications provided by GSMHelpdesk’s source seem in line with previous rumors.

Samsung Galaxy S3 release date

The leak states that the May 22, 2012 Galaxy S3 release date (first seen in Saturday’s leak) still holds. However, considering the abundance of leaks coming out, Samsung may decide to hurry up and launch the Galaxy S3 sooner, maybe in April. This would be in line with the declaration we reported this morning.

  Even Motorola Razr Maxx has a 3300 mAh battery. So Samsung should be able to put at least a 2500 mAh battery in the Galaxy S3!

The button on the left side of the phone was added by Photoshop. The buttons that are glowing below the screen were also done in the same way, and finally the reflection on the screen is not smooth or natural, also Photoshop. I use Photoshop a lot and I can see it was used in a lot of the Samsung galaxy S3 “leaked images”. Please stop wasting our time. Too much fake rumours are boring. I am waiting for the S3 and I want to buy it but all of this fake- picture-leaking is a cheap try to gain attention. I like this website and I hate seeing fake renders/rumours on the front page daily even if the source from another website is claiming it is “reliable”.

    So, rumors are considered news and its a job to post any and all types of news. I know it is some kind of tech website competition to post any fake image leaks every week. At least create a rumors section where all rumor reports from other websites or this one can be displayed. Android authority is a beautiful and organized website I just want some differentiation between true vs rumor and the quality of the news and leaks.

Real or fake AA gives you the news they don’t make it. They do there job by reporting you the news and you can make your own descion if its real or fake.

I thought the Samsung S3 Specs originally said 4.8? I have a Droid X so I wilo be happy with the 4.7. I hate small screens! I am so excited! I have been going back and forth with the S3 and the iphone! And of course Apple shuts there mouth until the very end when they are ready to launch it!! Ugh! I hate that! I wish I knew the iphone specs! I have never had an iphone but I do love my DROID! And I just dont know what to do! I cant decide yet! But in the end I will end up with the Samsung S3! It will be a belated birthday gift! So I have something to look forward too!
I am hoping that I will be able to Sync all my itunes music to the new S3! I heard that I will be able to do that with the new phone! Is that true??
And I hope that the battery is going to be better too!

Although what we hear about the new upcoming galaxy s3 is rumours, however i do not hear much about the holographic feature of the galaxy s3. if the holographic feature is not a reality, then God help the Galaxy, becouse its rival ( iphone 5 ) is coming with holographic and projector features.

1750 mAh battery??? Why doesn’t Samsung get it. The S2 and S2 Skyrocket phones have reported very poor battery lives and would have been exceptional if they had better batteries. The S3 has bigger screen than the S2 Skyrocket (which has a 1850 mAh battery and it doesn’t last the whole day) and will definitely need a better battery. A little thickness for a better battery is perfectly acceptable…..

  I agree with Rk, we’re in 2012 and our android phones can’t make it to the end of the day with moderate usage. This is bullshit!! I hate motorola’s hardware and software set up on Android phones but atleast they fit that huge battery in the Razr Maxx to alleviate the battery issue. I’m sure samsung and htc can both cram a bigger battery until battery technology catches up to the smartphone era. I already processors, software and hardware vary in many ways but enough is enough, These companies should pony up a 4000mah battery in there, even if it sacrifices thickness of phone and a slightly higher price of the phone.

Although the battery is still a 1750 mAh, samsung has used another chip so it wont take as much power. I believe it takes 32 procent less power if I remember correctly. So the battery should last longer. Also, if they are considering the wireless charging feature, then a smaller battery would be good. The smaller battery charge much quicker. My only disappointment is that it doesn’t look like it will be on 4G.

  A smaller battery would be good because smaller batteries charge quicker? That’s like saying “I hope my next car has a less powerful engine, so I can reach its top speed quicker”.
  
  A larger battery may take longer to reach full capacity, but it still charges at the same rate. All other factors being the same, a 30-minute charge of a 1000mAh battery would give it the ability to run a given phone for the same length of time as a 3000mAh battery charged for 30 minutes.
  
  Wireless charging or not, a bigger battery is always preferable to a smaller one unless thinness/weight is your primary concern.

  Yeah i agree. If the specs listed in this article are correct then, aside from the quad processor and 12meg camera, the s3 will actually have less desirable specs than some other smartphones that are already on the market…so i don’t think this ‘leak’ is the real deal.
