Earlier we reported that the Samsung Galaxy S II will be arriving in Canada some time in July. That was already juicy, eh? But, here’s more: Virgin Mobile Canada has pegged the Samsung Galaxy S II’s release date on July 14, according to an internal document that a tipster leaked to MobileSyrup last week.
Virgin Mobile Canada is also giving away free units of the Samsung Galaxy S II as incentives for employees who can sell the most handsets within two weeks after the July 14 launch. If my understanding of the MobileSyrup leak is correct, at least 25 units will be given away.
If I were a Virgin Mobile Canada employee, I’d expect the competition to be very, very, VERY stiff, as the Samsung Galaxy S II has been selling like hotcakes.
I am sure, too, that U.S.-based readers of Android Authority are turning Android-green with envy. Canadians get to taste the Samsung Galaxy S II ahead of Americans. Very little reason to fret, though, I should say, as rumor has been spreading about the Galaxy S II’s arrival on Sprint some time in July. That is, if the current lovers’ quarrel between Samsung and Apple won’t derail the Galaxy S II’s arrival on American shores.
Canadian mobile carriers Rogers, SaskTel, TELUS, and Bell have also been reported to launch the Samsung Galaxy S II on their own networks. According to MobileSyrup, the expected no-contract retail price will be CA$600. The handset price is a bit sweeter, though, at CA$80 with a 3-year contract on SaskTel.
