Samsung Galaxy S Duos

Last month Samsung announced the Galaxy S Duos S7562, a new dual SIM smartphone in the Galaxy line. While it has yet to make its way to Europe yet, it seems that the pricing for the Duos S7562 has now been revealed.

According to Amazon Germany, the phone will set you back €254.89 (around $320). The German price will likely reflect the overall pricing in all of Europe. Could Amazon be wrong? It’s possible, but another pricing hint comes from India.

The Samsung Galaxy S Duos S7562 is already available in India for 17,900 INR, which is roughly $328, in line with what Amazon Germany is asking for the device. Those orders are expected to take 6-8 days to fulfill.

We know the pricing, but what about the launch date in Europe? In August we were told that the Galaxy S Duos S7562 would launch in September. With September almost over, a release is expected any time now.

For those that need a refresher on what the Duos has to offer, Samsung’s dual-sim smartphone is powered by a 1GHz Cortex-A5 processor and comes standard with Android 4.0 ICS. Other specs include 768MB of RAM, dual SIM, 4GB internal memory, microSD, a 5MP camera and 4-inch capacitive touch screen. In the looks department, the handset is quite similar to the Galaxy S3, though obviously it has a smaller screen.

Do you like the idea of a dual SIM phone or feel that it is a bit of an overkill?

I have been waiting for this phone since its announcement, and waiting for a decent dual sim for years. I have been running the Samsung Y Duos for a month now as an experiment before shelling out 3 times the cost for the upcoming S Duos.

I am new to Android and dual sim functionality and I have been v impressed by both. Samsung has done a really good job, the phone is simple to use and does what it promised.

Had Apple released an iPhone 5 with dual sim I would have been tempted to revert back to the Apple stable but that will probably never happen. So another Android convert thanks to Samsung.
Dual sim phones are definitely NOT overkill, there is a growing need for many people, I am self employed and got really tired of carrying, charging and sync’ing 2 phones. The dual sim Y Duos has made my life so much simpler. And the battery life it twice as good as my iphone 4.
The question has been are people who require dual sim functionality willing to shell out for a higher end smartphone…. YES I would pay more than the quoted £200+ and probably will when Samsung release a higher spec’d version than this cut down S3 look-a-like.
Now come on Samsung get on and release the bleeding phone we’re waiting!!

    P.s. 1 iPhone4 and 1 Samsung Y Duos going cheap! ;-)

  • I picked one up in Dubai for around 200 Euros – pretty happy with it thus far.
