Samsung may have disappointed a couple of million Galaxy Note owners by delaying the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for the phablet. But if the showcased video of the Premium Suite, which was offered as a consolation, is any indication as to what users are set to gain, it might just be enough to make the pain more bearable.
The Premium Suite for the Galaxy Note is a software upgrade that won’t just keep Android up to speed with the latest, but it also comes with new S Pen optimized applications and enhanced multimedia features that will make the Galaxy Note an even more awesome device than it already is.
The new S Note app, for example, lets you create your very own notebook on the device with seven templates to choose from: Note, Meeting Note, Idea Note, Magazine, Travel, Diary, and Recipe. Adding pictures, video and even your own doodling will be a breeze. You can also record and play step-by-step details of your drawings.
Another thing worth mentioning is the Automatic Shape Correction feature, which will help straighten any lines and create perfect rectangular shape objects – among other shapes – for those inspiring moments when you decide to make charts on your phone/tablet. As mentioned before, you can now draw a mathematical formula and get the answer to the riddle in a flash.
The Premium Suite also comes with an improved ability to annotate and save PDF file, and the new My Story app, which lets you create multimedia letters and cards.
And of course, let’s not forget the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade that will come alongside the Premium Suite. The video didn’t mention any new date and the update is still slated for a Q2 2012 release, which means the longest you’ll have to wait for the ICS update is about 2.5 months. In the meantime, you can always re-watch this cute video of an elephant playing with the Galaxy Note.
