Samsung is in full damage control mode after failing to honor its initial promises of getting Jelly Bean out for the Galaxy Note and Galaxy S3 “very soon” after the IFA unveiling of the GNote 2, but things are still not looking great.

Android 4.1 is moving sluggishly across Europe for the S3, while US owners of the super-phone might even have to wait until next year to get the new “buttery smooth” OS. As for Canadians waiting for JB on their S3 and first gen GNote, they’re somewhere in the middle.

According to a message posted on Twitter by Samsung Canada, Note and S3 owners “can expect Jelly Bean to arrive before the holidays”. That sounds like another rather vague announcement in a long series of deliberately ambiguous Sammy statements, but at least it’s something.

Also, the holiday season is only about two months away, so at the worst you might be left in a haze for eight more weeks. Of course, there’s no way to know if Jelly Bean will come “before the holidays” for all different Canadian carrier branded versions of the S3 and GNote, but let’s not worry too much about that yet and try to take the glass half full approach to this entire shenanigan. After all, it could be worse, couldn’t it?
