Some call it bizarre, some funky, whereas others think of it as a brilliant gadget that breaks down the boundaries between smart devices and point-and-shoot cameras.

If you’re part of the latter category and love the Samsung Galaxy Camera, but hesitated to get it from AT&T for $500, you should check out discount website DailySteals. Though this usually offers gadgets at special prices for only 24 hours, during Cyber Week (which is this week) you’ll have more time to ponder the deals.

Sammy’s smart camera goes on DailySteals for the next few days for $450. That might not seem like the greatest all-time bargain, but it is something. There’s also free shipping, while the “steals” website actually claims the discount to be of $325 off a “list price” of $775 (no, we don’t know where they got that price either).

Anyways, if you’re on the fence about the deal, here’s a quick recap of the GCamera’s specs:

    • 16.3 megapixel resolution, autofocus, 21x optical zoom
    • 4.8-inch Super Clear LCD touchscreen with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass
    • Quad-core 1.4 GHZ Exynos 4412 processor
    • 1 GB of RAM
    • 8 GB of on-board storage
    • MicroSD support
    • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
    • 1,650 mAh battery

    Who’s getting one?

Could the GS3 battery be used as a replacement battery in the Samsung Galaxy Camera? It would be nice to have a better battery. Are batteries in general interchangeable among recent Samung Galaxy devices?

Also, if someone with the Galaxy Camera could comment, I was curious about the camera app. It has a massive amount of features. If I were to root the camera in the future to give it an updated version (perhaps along with the more likely to be kept updated Galaxy S3), could this specific camera app be re-downloaded from Samsung? It would be nice to upgrade to Key Lime Pie when that becomes standard, but to still retain the great camera features that came already installed on this. I can see it becoming difficult.
