April 1, 2013

New-Galaxy-Ace-2

Samsung has finally started rolling out Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean to the popular mid-ranger Galaxy Ace 2. The update is rolling out in phases and owners can expect it very soon. To see if you’ve received the update, navigate to your phone settings or connect your device to a PC and run Samsung Kies.

Here are the official firmware details:

  • Android Version: 4.1.2 – Build JZO54K
  • PDA: I8160XXMC8
  • CSC: I8160TMNMC3
  • MODEM: I8160XXMC8
  • Build Date: 26 March 2013
  • Changelist: 1016990

This latest update brings a bevvy of improvements to the Ace 2, and should breath some new life in a rather quaint device. Highlights of the update include Google Now and Samsung’s Nature UI overlay, which you might be familiar with from the Galaxy S3.

The Galaxy Ace 2 update to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean was first leaked back in February. If you can’t wait for the OTA to get your update, you can get the Jelly Bean firmware by following the source link below.

  • CanadianGS3mini

does this include galaxy ace 2 x?

    • silver_arrow

Nope the Ace 2 X is a much different, much lower end device

      • candiangs3mini

but its already running ics, so jelly bean cant be that much more intense?

        • silver_arrow

Frankly the original Galaxy S has specs that are similar to the Ace 2 X and they said it can not run ICS. I could see Samsung saying the A2X can not run 4.1 and as far as i know that phone has only been released in Canada so theres not a lot of people who have it

          • Canadiangs3mini

firstly, the galaxy ace 2 actually also has similar specs to galaxy s,so if it receives an update, so should galaxy ace 2 x. and secondly, you got something against Candians?!?!?

          • silver_arrow

The ace 2 is a dual core 768mb ran device while the ace 2 X is a single core 512 ram device so there is a lot of difference in the hardware. And nope I have nothing against Canadians, I am one and love it. I’m just saying that there’s a difference between the A2 and A2X and that Samsung has been known in the past tsk not update lower end devices and to only update medium to high end ones

          • Canadiangs3mini

actually ace 2 x has 768 mb ram and a 1ghz single core processor, which is just about equivalent to the ace 2 which only has 768 mb ram and dual core 800 mhz processor :)

What is the difference between GT-18160 and GT-18160L, it’s just a tag for latin america?

    • JCYD

The Samsung GT-I8160 (Galaxy Ace 2) doesn’t have NFC function, while the Samsung GT-I8160L have NFC.

yes is available in Portugal (TMN) and Greece only so far… Irony that the bankrupted countries are receiving the update before anyone else… Lucky Spain and Italy will be next… Samsung should start to consider the UK after all The Cons have bankrupted us all with the Bedroom Tax as well.
