Those of us who don’t own the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate – on AT&T – have probably forgotten that Samsung has not yet released an official update to Gingerbread, until today that is. Now I can finally pick up my Captivate off my desk and update it to Android 2.3 using Samsung Kies.
Listed below are some of the benefits of the upgrade:
Hit the source link for directions from Samsung on how to update to Android 2.3 using Kies. Yes we know, the Kies system really sucks! But unfortunately that’s how it’s done with the Samsung Galaxy S phones. Did you get your update? Let us know in the comments how it works out, and how long it took to update your Samsung Captivate.

Welcome to Dec. 2010 Samsung.
ICS runs like butter on my captivate
Samsung is out of touch in updates. Surprising to see they actually updates old phones.
Got the official release msg yesterday from ATT. Installed via Kies Mini w/o problems, but did take a while. Had root on Froyo, but of course lost that in the upgrade (actually unrooted beforehand). While GB has some improvements, I want to reroot to uninstall ATT bloatware again… Have yet to find any root methods for GB.
Holy crap!!! I didn’t know that Cappy was still on Froyo. that’s insane. I’ve been on CM7 with glitch for a while now and now just upgraded to Team Kang’s ICS 4.04 rom and its even more beautiful. It’s with Ic Glitch. Been OC’d to 1.5GHz for quite some time now. Don’t even use AT&T just wifi, textplus, GVoice, Csipsimple, and pbexes acount.
