Rumors: LG Nexus 10 specs, release date and pricing mentioned in bizarre leaks

A variety of images allegedly showing the LG Nexus 10 have hit the web, detailing potential release dates and pricing for a product that’s yet to be made official by Google.

Previously, Samsung and Asus (in this order) have been rumored to be the makers of the Nexus 10 (2013), but Google did not unveil such a product. We’re now further confused by a slew of leaks that can’t be verified yet, and which suggest that LG may have been also chosen to make a 10-inch tablet.

A reddit user posted an image of the alleged LG Nexus 10 (see above) and a message in Korean, suggesting the device would be launched on November 22 in black and white, and that an LTE version will be available. The post was later deleted, but the image was saved.

Interestingly, the model number of the tablet in that image has been previously associated with a Nexus 8 rumor (LG-V510), and it’s very similar to the model number of LG’s recently launched 8.3-inch LG G Pad 8.3 tablet (LG-V500).

Furthermore, a different reddit user claiming that he or she works for Telefonica (O2) said that the new Nexus 10 is in the company’s database. The image above was posted, alongside the following image:

As the title states [I work for Telefonica (O2), this image of the new Nexus 10 is in our database], I have an image of the New Nexus 10 (2013), I hate my job, I won’t specify what it involves but I have access to databases and this popped up yesterday, I couldn’t give a damn if I got caught.

Anyway, this image should be up on the O2 website without the watermarking when it’s announced, If I get dates I’ll post them here.

Here’s the image: http://i.imgur.com/A4wwhy4.png

It’s completely genuine, I was wondering why there was no status bar, then I assumed it’s a render made by Telefonica and not Google so things aren’t perfect like all carrier renders.

Even the Nexus 10 on the Play Store has no navbar.

Anyway, hope this excites you all! I can’t wait to get my hands on one too!

However, that’s not an official confirmation. Furthermore, Pocket-lint reports that Telefonica denied that the image above comes from O2.

Independently of these reddit posts, an LG Nexus 10 page has popped over on Tesco (link not working anymore), revealing alleged specs for the rumored tablet, and apparently confirmed the pricing shown on the O2 image (£299) as well as the November 22 launch date. Furthermore, the device was listed as in-stock (see following gallery), although the page was later removed.

Here are the rumored specs and features of the LG Nexus 10:

  • Size: 200 x 114 x 8.9 mm
  • Weight: 420g
  • 10-inch IPS display with 2560 x 1600 resolution
  • 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor
  • 3GB of RAM
  • 16GB of storage
  • 802.11ac Wi-Fi
  • 18-hour battery life
  • Android 4.4 KitKat

While these specs may look good on paper, the rumored size of the device is certainly puzzling. If accurate, such a tablet would be smaller than the LG G Pad 8.3 (216.8 x 126.5 x 8.3 mm) and the Samsung Nexus 10 (263.9 x 177.6 x 8.9 mm). As for the weight, this LG Nexus 10 would be heavier than the G Pad (338g), but much lighter than the Samsung Nexus 10 (603g). For what it’s worth, the iPad Air measures 240 x 169.5 x 7.5 mm and weights 469g (the Wi-Fi version).

Finally, Mashable reports that Ubergizmo has apparently seen a page for the new Nexus 10 mistakenly posted by Google on its Google Play Store – we’ve seen that happen with the Nexus 5 before. Apparently the product had a November 21 launch date, although the device was then reportedly removed. The site that first posted information about it removed its article as well. Interestingly, LG was not associated with the Nexus 10 in this case.

These certainly are some bizarre leaks and rumors, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

that size seems unreal . At Size: 200 x 114 x 8.9 mm , it is just about nexus 7 size.

    • JCG

This measurements give exactly 9 inches diagonally assuming there is no border around the display. So at the most this would be an 8 inches tablet.

      • RanRu

Unless it holographically projects a ten inch display into the air. Might as well, considering how weird the rest of the specs are.

  • Shark Bait

I would personally like a tablet bigger than 10 inches. 10 inches just seems to small to be great for TV and too big to be comfortable in 1 hand

Also I don’t see why LG would make the phone and tablet ..

There really isn’t a reason not to, though.

As long as Google continues to move away from $am$ung, I dont care who makes it. :)

yeah – too much marketing in samsung’s favor. not that they make bad products, it’s just that other phone makers are just as competent. moreover, just like apple products, samsung products are getting a free ride i nthe media. time for some balance by everyone concerned :)

There might be some credence to Asus making it initially. They had the TF701 in their backpocket for longer than one would like. Given their product cycle time, the TF700 has been the market for more than a year (and they were churning devices once every 10 months or less at some point). I think something fell apart especially with google wanting its “Ok Google” support that could have required some specific support that LG might be able to turnaround given its Nexus 5 experience and Asus was not able to in the given timeframe.

Looks like an iPad killer. I’m excited

Tesco images look like they are fake. The URL of the first image ends with 278-0083. Searching Tesco’s website with the same number lands you on the webpage for the Nexus 7. If you factor in the dimensions of the Nexus 10 mentioned on the second image, which are about the same as the Nexus 7, you could conclude the images are fake.

Very interesting. That is definitely not the original Nexus 10.

The LG device isn’t the new Nexus 10, it is the also rumored Nexus 8. Compare the product number to LG’s 8″ tablet. Compare the product numbers of their 5″ phone and the Nexux 5. Look at the rumored size (a 10″ screen wouldn’t fit, but 8″ woud be just right). I’m still betting on an Asus 10″. Hopefully double-release this month.

    • bob

and the listed specs above I’m sure are a mash-up between 8″ and 10″ devices.

I was really hoping on ASUS. Too bad. I could really be surprised and the new Nexus 10 could be even better, so I’ll bite my tongue until I can try one out.

Very interesting. That is definitely not the original Nexus 10.

I’m not sure what you mean. I never said anything about the OG Nexus 10, but I was positive that one made by ASUS would be fantastic. That said, I have confidence LG can make a great tablet.

    Nexus 8?

  • alterstill

Dimensions (width and height) are matching exactly Nexus 7. Can’t be real.
