A person that has proven so far to be more than familiar with Google’s Moto X plans says that the handset could be shipped to carriers starting with July 29, suggesting that a launch following the August 1 announcement event wouldn’t be out of the question.
The news comes from Taylor Wimberly – who else? – but don’t get too excited just yet as he apparently heard everything from an unverified source. Here’s what he posted on his Google+ page:
Just got some crazy info. Unverified source tells me Moto X ships to US carriers on 7/29 (tomorrow)! If this is true then it might go on sale this week after the big reveal. Trying to verify info with some other sources.
While various Moto X details have been leaked in the past few days (and weeks), there hasn’t been that much talk about launch dates. We only have alleged launch dates for Verizon (August 23) and U.S. Cellular (August 26), but other U.S. carriers including AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile are also expected to launch the device, considering the fact that existing FCC documentation has been filed for five different Moto X versions.
We’ll just have to wait and see whether the Moto X will be launched next week, which would certainly be interesting. What’s clear though is that the handset is coming this summer, something Motorola has officially confirmed when making the Moto X name official at the D11 media event.

Good new I suppose. I truly hope it has a bigger screen size than 4.7″ though.
4.7″ cannot be anymore confirmed than it already is.
Wtf is that.
Fake. Start selling the phone before the keynote … Meeeh
No, this isn’t about *selling* Moto X before the official introduction…they’re *releasing* it, so as to allow for shipping into the pipeline (i.e.: ‘stocking’).
In other words (and assuming this rumor is accurate), then unlike most Android devices the Moto X phone could be available — even at local shops — almost immediately after the launch event.
As long as it comes to the UK by the end of August, I’m happy.
shipped on the 29th. arriving in carrier stores on the 1st. to be sold on the 2nd. sounds realistic to me.
I hope this phone will come to Germany:/
Why would you even thing it wouldn’t? O.o
Some german news website it would probably not come to Europe:(
I call bull. The CEO stated at D11 how they plan to release it world wide.
This is how it should be; announce it and start selling it the next day. Unlike what HTC did with the One.
Like Verizon does with everything
Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Motorola doing exactly the same as Apple? They’re using less advanced chips and hardware but optimize their software so much that the phone will be very smooth and fast.
No it’s a more advanced chip but less powerful, there is a difference
Imagine of they included powerful chips AND optimized software
Yes that would be a definite iPhone killer!
With so many leaks the moto X is already unveiled..so it seems apt for it to be launched on august 1 :-)
